IGT 7/8/08 Fight the Freak! Giants at Mets!

Benjamin Grimm
Jul 08 2008 03:50 PM

No lineups yet, but I'd like to take a moment to declare that beating Freak Lincecum would be a Big Win, but if the Mets lose, as long as it's not in heartbreaking fashion, it will be a small loss. (But it would require them to win on Wednesday and Thursday.)

But hopefully the Mets are girding their loins right now, and will rise to the challenge here.

Come on, guys! Let's rein in a Big Win!

If you want Easley's bat, you gotta live with his glove, I guess.

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 08 2008 05:14 PM

WHAT THE FUCK??

Frayed Knot
Jul 08 2008 05:16 PM

You gotta be kidding me -- he practically left footprints on the mound!

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 08 2008 05:16 PM

Stab him Jerry. Lewis wasn't close to the basepath.

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 08 2008 05:18 PM

Big Pelf, picking it up!

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 08 2008 05:22 PM

Plunking a Molina should only warrant a 2-ball penalty. How are you supposed to miss them?

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 08 2008 05:22 PM

Jose saves a run.

Frayed Knot
Jul 08 2008 05:23 PM

Pelfrey deserves A LOT better this inning.

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 08 2008 05:25 PM

I know how to get this guy Bowker out- you jump over his head and grab the axe. The bridge totally collapses.

Big K for Big P, who looked pretty damn good despite all the ducks on the pond.

Jul 08 2008 05:25 PM

OK, Big Pelf. Nice job. Don't look back.

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 08 2008 05:29 PM

Gonna be one of those nights, I guess. Giants hit dribblers that find holes, Reyes line drives an atom ball.

Nevermind- an Endy dribbler squeaks through. Let's go Dave!

Frayed Knot
Jul 08 2008 05:34 PM

Fuck the Freak !!!!

AG/DC
Jul 08 2008 05:42 PM

One of those nights when Beltran is pulling the curve. Wow!

I met WW in a shopping mall on LI one time during his playing days.
He was probably the only football player I ever met who didn't dwarf me, in fact we were virtually the same size. But even with just the simple act of walking across the floor he managed to look so ridiculously athletic that anyone who was asked to pick the pro athlete out of the two would have made the right choice 100% of the time.

I'd have been there tommorow night had Santana faced Lincecum as originally scheduled, with the revamped matchups we decided not to bother. make me regret staying home pelfrey.

Pelf's been the biggest surprise this year. He doesn't even look like the same guy from last season.

Cruising down to Dallas. His wheels provide his palace.

This performance is a revelation. Cards take a 2-0 lead on Phillie also.

Omar Vizquel, despite being Julio Franco's babysitter, still makes it look easy at short.

Vizquel is comically good tonight.

Pelfrey pitching the 7th despite a pitch count around 100, thats what i like to see.

Rowand just had the closest thing to a well struck out that I've seen.

Keith's right. That is called "getting in your pots and pans."

AG/DC

That's about as unimpressive a hit as you'll see, folkses.

Nymr83
Jul 08 2008 07:08 PM

Pelfrey pops up vizquel, good job getting out of it without damage

short bench tonight, use A.Reyes to hit for pelfrey here so as not to waste Aguila? (Castro is a the backup C, anderson is useless, and church is not available, thats everyone right?)

That depends, can Marty Lyons swing a bat?

And Argenis gets his first big league hit.

Still would have rather batted Pelf.

Call up Jose A. Reyes now and pinch-hit him and we can get the bases full of Reyeseses.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 08 2008 07:13 PM

Just felt that if Pelf could negotiate Easley's misadventures in the first he's have himself a game. And he did and he did.

AG/DC
Jul 08 2008 07:20 PM

Me too. So confident I marked each inning.

Argenis showing some heads-up baseballing.

Cards up 2-0 over the Phils in the 9th...

Evans is wearing 6. What a controversy!

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 08 2008 07:27 PM

Mets just look better than a bad team. This is very unusual for this year.
I'd like to see more of this.

AG/DC
Jul 08 2008 07:34 PM

The "you know" factor in Pelfrey's interview was enough to make Omar blush.

Fman99
Jul 08 2008 07:49 PM

Put it in the books. The Mets dominate. I don't even know how to react to this.

AG/DC
Jul 08 2008 07:49 PM

Maybe there's been a more satisfying win this year, but I don't remember it.

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 08 2008 07:51 PM

1.5 out. Took the first game against the Giants at home with Lincecum on the mound. I've got a good feeling about this homestand.

AG/DC
Jul 08 2008 11:02 PM

San Diego 10, Florida 1 in the ninth.

Most of you are already in bed. Well, good morning. How does it feel to wake up in a tie for second place?

Atlanta wins, but we're four up on them. If we do our part, we have every reason to think of them as our advocates as well as our rivals.

This may or may not turn out to be a championship season, but for this week at least, the Mets are showing that 1986/2006 spirit. That three-run homer by Beltran in the first set the tone early. He'll be getting a lot of Schaefer from me for that one.
