Every time Carlos B. takes a called third strike it takes me back to that rainy night in 2006.
TransMonk Jul 09 2008 06:04 PM |
Old fashioned pitcher's duel tonight.
seawolf17 Jul 09 2008 06:13 PM |
Look at Keef's old man glasses.

Just throw some fucking strikes Johan!

POURING rain with 2 outs in the top of the 4th. The umps letting them play for the out to make it official.
themetfairy Jul 09 2008 06:38 PM |
OK - it's an official game!
Nymr83 Jul 09 2008 06:38 PM |
we have an official game folks!
themetfairy Jul 09 2008 06:38 PM |
And it's time for Rain Delay Theater.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 09 2008 06:41 PM |
That rain already cleared outta here, could be a shortie?
Benjamin Grimm Jul 09 2008 06:44 PM |
That provided an interesting kind of drama. I liked the shots of Bruce Bochy looking dismayed. And Randy Winn did Santana a huge favor by swinging at the first pitch.

So fucking true.
The language! And you're a mom!
soupcan Jul 09 2008 06:55 PM |
And while I'm here -
themetfairy Jul 09 2008 06:57 PM |

Yabbut, did you see yesterday's homer? The Freak threw a yakker that dropped from the letters to the cup that 'Los waited on perfectly to rip out. It really went a long way in exorcising that particular ghost for me. In my notion of him, he usually fights the breaking pitch off (at best) to look for the fastball. He was all over it like a seagull on sick mollusk.
soupcan Jul 09 2008 07:14 PM |
You're totally right and I actually thought about that yesterday when he hit that ding-dong.
Nymr83 Jul 09 2008 07:14 PM |
a yankee fan i know was Carlos Beltran for Halloween in '06, he wore the jersey and a whiffleball bat... which was taped to his shoulder.
themetfairy Jul 09 2008 07:20 PM |
And we're back after a 42 minute rain delay.
AG/DC Jul 09 2008 07:22 PM |
All the more reason we need to get over it. The team lost that game, not Carlos. Yankee-fan-Nymr-knows can stick it. You know, I was the Yankees for that same Halloween party. I didn't even get invited to the party. Get it?

What soup said. I'm not meaning to say he watches a lot of great pitches fly by him. It's just when he does, that memory makes me want to puke.
themetfairy Jul 09 2008 07:33 PM |
Heilman comes in to pitch the 6th.
Frayed Knot Jul 09 2008 07:38 PM |
Not a great sign that Johan didn't come back out after the short-ish rain delay.
Rockin' Doc Jul 09 2008 08:02 PM |
The table is set for Mr. Wright in the 7th.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 09 2008 08:04 PM |
hey, just getting here. Did they say why Santana didn't come back? I'm guessing it was because of the rain?
Rockin' Doc Jul 09 2008 08:05 PM |
Wright grounds out to third without advancing the runners. Intentional pass to Beltran to load the bases with two outs. Bochy will take his chances with the red hot Easley.
Rockin' Doc Jul 09 2008 08:07 PM |
Easley chooses a bad time to emulate Wright as he grounds to third to end the inning.
soupcan Jul 09 2008 08:08 PM |
I don't think they said yet. My guess is that wasn't Johan's call.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 09 2008 08:13 PM |
Cardinals just scored two to tie the Phillies! This could be a very good night.
soupcan Jul 09 2008 08:13 PM |
BTW - Phils / Cards 2-2 bottom 7.

We have a great chance to turn the page here. and we need your support, not your vomit. I'd like you to meet Señor Delgado. El es calor.

Our Heinous Reyes is not heinous at all!

None of the above..Today's baseball no does more than they have to..Gotta protect the contract. Reminds me more of why Koosman was the man.
Rockin' Doc Jul 09 2008 08:21 PM |
the other Reyes is starting to pay dividends.
soupcan Jul 09 2008 08:21 PM |
Gary talking about Evans and Nixon's 6's.
soupcan Jul 09 2008 08:22 PM |
J. Reyes plates A. Reyes.
Rockin' Doc Jul 09 2008 08:23 PM |
Jose's not so bad either.
Fman99 Jul 09 2008 08:23 PM |
Go Reyes and Reyes! Go Mets! Go Cards!

We know Gary lurks. Gary - just say hi already!
metsguyinmichigan Jul 09 2008 08:25 PM |
I'm feeling it! I'm feeling it!
Fman99 Jul 09 2008 08:26 PM |
Wouldn't that be a pisser! :waving at Gary:
Fman99 Jul 09 2008 08:29 PM |
Oh Gary JUST said this. Now I am 100% convinced of the lurking. Or the channeling even.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 09 2008 08:30 PM |
If he threatens to punch someone in the neck, we know he's reading...
themetfairy Jul 09 2008 08:30 PM |
He's probably reading us in the booth <g>
soupcan Jul 09 2008 08:30 PM |
Fman - you and Gary are having a mind meld.
Rockin' Doc Jul 09 2008 08:33 PM |
If Gary starts channeling Frman on the air he might find himself in trouble with the FCC.
soupcan Jul 09 2008 08:33 PM |
These boys from San Fran are looking pretty lifeless I must say.
themetfairy Jul 09 2008 08:34 PM |
And it's a final! The Mets win!
Rockin' Doc Jul 09 2008 08:35 PM |
Well, if Bengie Molina is hitting clean up, how much life would you expect.
soupcan Jul 09 2008 08:36 PM |

What he said.

metsguyinmichigan Jul 09 2008 08:36 PM |
Bleeping Ryan Howard just put the Phils back on top.

Yay for the win.

Funny. At the behest of other members I have tried to behave myself a bit better. This is, after all, the home for INTELLIGENT, lively and provocative discussion. Not to say that the next time Tommy Boy Steinbrenner says some inane thing I won't still use a dirty word.
Fman99 Jul 09 2008 08:42 PM |
They are channeling the San Diego version of the Mets from earlier this year methinks. Which is awful nice of them.
Gwreck Jul 09 2008 08:43 PM |
Basically summarized the situation and said "The Mets have two number sixes. You can't give away a guy's number while he's on the disabled list, right?"
AG/DC Jul 09 2008 08:49 PM |
"I mean, if you're on the DL, you can still sit on the bench, right?"
Benjamin Grimm Jul 09 2008 08:50 PM |
I think Trot Nixon is out of sight and out of mind.

metirish Jul 10 2008 08:29 AM |
Brilliant picture. What pitch is Santana about to throw there, some sort of change up?
soupcan Jul 10 2008 08:31 AM |
Looks like a fastball to me.
AG/DC Jul 10 2008 08:39 AM |
That's the basic read, yeah.
