Part of me welcomes this, the other fears that he'll actually get good and we'll have even more reminders.

Scott Kazmir is pitching at Yankee Stadium Tuesday night. Can Victor Zambrano be far behind?

In their never-ending quest to find starting pitching, the Yankees plan to send a scout to watch the free-agent righty throw sometime this week, according to a source.

Zambrano is infamous for being the pitcher the Mets got when they shipped highly touted prospect Kazmir to Tampa at the trading deadline in 2004.

Part of me hopes the Yankees actually care about showing the Mets up by redeeming their castoffs, and make decisions with that in mind.

And the other part of you?

Doesn't care at all.

A third part of me wishes the guy luck and hopes he gets a few breaks after all the shit he got put through.

Eh, I care and I don't. I really have no malice toward Vagina Boy; I wanted him to do well, because I know he had the stuff to do it. He was just crushed by expectations.

Zambrano really doesn't deserve the malice he's received.

It's not like he said, "Hey Mets! Trade Scott Kazmir for me! I'll be GREAT!"

If he's worth looking at, should the Mets be giving him another look to see if maybe Dan Warthen can fix him in ten minutes? He comes with a ton of baggage, but he could be an improvement over Tony Armas.

I think he's worth looking at.

So is Freddy Garcia.

And maybe one or two others who I'm not aware of. If anyone's out there, they're worth looking at.

Absolutely. The thing with him is, he had a 9-something ERA for the Rockies' AAA team, so he may not be ready to step in and help.

Maine btw admits his elbow thingy may styill be a problem but *thinks* he can go Thursday. One option would be to then slot him at No. 5 after the break, giving him a lengthy rest. I suppose another would be to start Armas Thursday.
