Soriano out of All-Star Game

The Cubs are reporting that Alfonso Soriano will be unable to hear the ovation fall like soft rain next week.

No immediate word on who will replace him on the roster. Room for a Met? I wonder if they'll pick another outfielder or just add another player.

Matt Holiday replaces him.

Well, he replaces him in the line-up. But Holiday was already on the roster. Hurdle said he's waiting until after the Final Man voting is announced.

Perhaps that bodes well for Mr. Wright.

Hurdle probably wants to select Tatis.

It might. If an outfielder wins the voting, Hurdle may decide to pick Wright.

Well, yeah. Of course he wants Tatis.

Klapisch probably thinks Hurdle should add Melky Cabrera, even though it's an NL opening because, well, you know, it's the final marquee game at Yankee Stadium (II) and people are paying $10,000 for those seats and Melky deserves to hear that ovation.

My guess is that since Hart is an outfielder, if he wins, Hurdle adds Wright. And if Wright wins, he adds Hart.

And if Miquel Tejada realizes he doesn't belong, err, comes up with a mysterious Sunday afternoon injury that takes three days to heal, Hurdle can add Reyes.
