Nice lineup of HoF players - said to be the biggest collection outside of Cooperstown.

Living HoF players NOT appearing tonight (as far as I can tell):
C. Fisk
C. Yasztremski - never seems to show up to this sort of thing
S. Musial - older and reportedly in poor health
N. Ryan -WTF, you're still part of the game dude
J. Bunning - and Congress isn't even in session
T. Seaver - grape pickin' time I guess
J. Morgan - you're at 3 games a week man!
D. Eckersley
J. Bench
D. Snider
S. Koufax - notoriously event-shy

Eckersley was there. Bench was in NY (I heard him on FAN today) so I wonder why he wasn't introduced. The ceremony wasn't bad until Steinbrenner showed up. He had no business being there unless he was searching for a calzone.

Guess so.

This is just incredible that this should happen.
And its gonna such be a big issue tomorrow (or later today).

Extra innings....
WhatsTheBigDeal?

Check and see when Seaver pitched the 15th back in 1967, when he pitched last before that game.

And then it really was just an exhibition game. No World Series home field carp involved.

Maybe they should have expanded rosters for a contest like this, but thats the only answer I'd ever entertain.
Its baseball. Play the game till its over. And shaaaaadup.

Nymr83
Jul 16 2008 01:07 AM

if they expanded the rosters you'd just have guys going 1/3 of an inning so more people could play. these staffs have more starters on themt han normal staffs, they should be able to go 40 innings without a problem if they didnt have this "get everyone in and hten be suprised when nobody is left" philosophy.
