Now I can see why George doesn't get out much anymore. I think he could use a drool cup.

Eckersley was there. Bench was in NY (I heard him on FAN today) so I wonder why he wasn't introduced. The ceremony wasn't bad until Steinbrenner showed up. He had no business being there unless he was searching for a calzone.

I think Longoria's bat scraped the plate when he hit that ball. Wagner had him fooled he just got lucky. Plus the first hit was a three hop groundball. If you're not going to blame Papelbon then you really shouldn't blame Wagner.

Rockin' Doc Jul 15 2008 10:29 PM |
McLouth can motor as he beats out his well placed sac bunt so everyone is safe.
AG/DC Jul 15 2008 10:30 PM |
He also looks about 17 to me.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 15 2008 10:30 PM |
Somewhere, Willie is yelling, "SEE, BUNTS!" at his TV.

I'll give Bud Selig this - I'm actually paying attention to this game.
attgig Jul 15 2008 10:34 PM |
I would've paid attn if it didn't "count". only game on in all of sports... what else am i going to watch?
Rockin' Doc Jul 15 2008 10:35 PM |
If Uggla's named to the All Star squad next year, he should come down with some strange malady just to save himself from the embarrassment. He has had an absolute nightmare of a game for the NL.
Gwreck Jul 15 2008 10:35 PM |
Adrian Gonzalez looking mighty good as my pick for MVP.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 15 2008 10:35 PM |
They can't keep wriggling out of all these bases-loaded situations, right?

Gwreck Jul 15 2008 10:38 PM |
Oops, maybe not. David gets another shot if we can get this to the 13th.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 15 2008 10:38 PM |
NL getting burned here by having its best pitcher getting the flu too late to be replaced on the roster...
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 15 2008 10:39 PM |
Tough to beat Cheryl.

Rockin' Doc Jul 15 2008 10:41 PM |

Zvon Jul 15 2008 11:09 PM |
There's a lot of things that MLB brass didn't want to happen tonight, and extra innings beyond 12 has got to top the list.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 15 2008 11:10 PM |
As does Martin...
attgig Jul 15 2008 11:11 PM |
I wonder at what point, Kazmir and Webb start grooving fastballs.

attgig Jul 15 2008 11:26 PM |
*yawn*....
Nymr83 Jul 15 2008 11:27 PM |
FOX guys talking about "solutions" to the tie problem, and ignoring the obvious one: don't bring pitchers in for 1 inning each, if this game is going to count for something then the starter needs to go five, each closer needs to go a full inning, and any other starter that pitches needs to go 3. you wont run out of pitchers that way and i dont care who doesnt get to pitch.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 15 2008 11:27 PM |
Low on fuel here
Gwreck Jul 15 2008 11:27 PM |
Joe Buck still talking about how Francona is "not" going to put Kazmir out there after a certain point. Maybe they forfeit?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 15 2008 11:28 PM |
We all know this is Wagner's fault. Came in bases empty, 2 out, and Lidge poised for the 9th.
attgig Jul 15 2008 11:29 PM |
get rid of the 'it counts' thing (what happens on a tied game rainout anyways?) make it an exhibition as it is. let players come back in only if it goes beyond 10 innings.
attgig Jul 15 2008 11:29 PM |
Or their DH starts pitching.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 15 2008 11:30 PM |
I think they stop the game between the 15th and 16th innings so Bud can give the Commissioner's Award to someone. Should only take 20 minutes before they start the game again.
attgig Jul 15 2008 11:30 PM |
at least francona isn't bunting. someone knows how to manage.

MVP=JD DREW? Guess so. This is just incredible that this should happen. And its gonna such be a big issue tomorrow (or later today). Extra innings.... WhatsTheBigDeal? Check and see when Seaver pitched the 15th back in 1967, when he pitched last before that game. And then it really was just an exhibition game. No World Series home field carp involved. Maybe they should have expanded rosters for a contest like this, but thats the only answer I'd ever entertain. Its baseball. Play the game till its over. And shaaaaadup.
Nymr83 Jul 16 2008 01:07 AM |
if they expanded the rosters you'd just have guys going 1/3 of an inning so more people could play. these staffs have more starters on themt han normal staffs, they should be able to go 40 innings without a problem if they didnt have this "get everyone in and hten be suprised when nobody is left" philosophy.
