I'm Seeing Red.... IGT 7/20/08: Mets @ Reds

batmagadanleadoff
Jul 20 2008 10:44 AM

I'm seeing Red here, what with this new two game losing streak against the Reds and the newly announced Citi Field ticket prices.

No Tatis today.

Valadius
Jul 20 2008 10:51 AM

I don't begrudge Tatis getting a day off, but Marlon Anderson getting the start in left field? Come on!

batmagadanleadoff
Jul 20 2008 10:55 AM

Maybe Manuel wanted a few more lefties in the lineup than usual. Easley's out, too. Volquez is virtually unhittable against righties this year and is striking out righties at a rate of better than one out of three batters.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 20 2008 11:09 AM

Doesn't make sense then that he'd wait until today to start Castro and sit The Schneid.

Tatis and Easley are both playing like they could use an offday (or two).

KC
Jul 20 2008 11:28 AM

Beltran with a nice AB in the first and a whole new approach from yesterday
fighting stuff off and actually swinging.

All is forgiven, until later, we're fickle that way.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 20 2008 11:33 AM

Yabbut, Anderson returns to the shit list.

Woulda coulda shoula had more there

KC
Jul 20 2008 11:33 AM

I hope settling for one and leaving the bases loaded doesn't come back to
bite us in the boo-boo, but the Mets are hitting Boy Wonder.

Geez, Marlon is signed through '09.

Those darn Phils are up 2-0 in the 3rd.

Rockin' Doc
Jul 20 2008 11:51 AM

Come on team. Volquez doesn't appear to have his best stuff right now. The Mets need to take advantage and try to knock him out of the game before he finds himself.

Rockin' Doc
Jul 20 2008 11:55 AM

In the first two innings, the Mets have 4 singles, 2 walks, a stolen base, and a wild pitch by Volquez thrown in for good measure, yet they have only scored one run. I'm afraid the Mets failure to cash in when they've had these early opportunities is likely going to haunt them later in the game.

Zvon
Jul 20 2008 11:56 AM

That darn Dunn.

Rockin' Doc
Jul 20 2008 11:57 AM

A home run by Adam Dunn leading off the Reds second inning and just like that it's a tie ball game.

Zvon
Jul 20 2008 12:05 PM

That darn Delgado's been raykin!

2fer2 with a double.

Fish score, 2-1 Phils in Florida.
Cole Hamels pitching there in the 4th.

Let's sneak Brandon Phillips onto the plane on the way out tonight and say he's Marlon Anderson.

You calling Castro on Monkey?

In all it's 3 runs in 3 innings off one of the tougher young pitchers in baseball and we've run his pitch count way up in the process.
Could have been better but I'll take that kind of start.

Does he not remember Robbie Alomar ... or is he only saying he's never seen it done succesfully before?

Speaking of never seeing something, I don't think I ever saw anyone have

to Marlon.

Marlon's due for something good to happen today.

i wish people would get off that BS already, omar was managing a team that had been taken over by mlb and was in danger of imminent contraction, he tried to trade guys who would never have played in Montreal anyway to help win then.

Beltran thrown out trying to steal 3rd.

And Castro follows with a single.
Cripes.

Ok guys, plate one here.

KC
Jul 20 2008 02:08 PM

Stealing third just ain't worth it most times if ya get caught under almost
all scenarios. It's nice it the guy scores on a sac-fly, but seems like most
times it's an inning killer if ya get caught.

Marlins with bases loaded in their home 11th and no outs!

He struck him out and the ballgame is over!
The Mets have finished their split with the Reds, back in First, and Mets Guy In Michigan has finally seen his Mets win after 11 straight losses over the span of 17 years!
