I'm Seeing Red.... IGT 7/20/08: Mets @ Reds
batmagadanleadoff Jul 20 2008 10:44 AM |
I'm seeing Red here, what with this new two game losing streak against the Reds and the newly announced Citi Field ticket prices.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 20 2008 10:49 AM |
No Tatis today.
Valadius Jul 20 2008 10:51 AM |
I don't begrudge Tatis getting a day off, but Marlon Anderson getting the start in left field? Come on!
batmagadanleadoff Jul 20 2008 10:55 AM |
Maybe Manuel wanted a few more lefties in the lineup than usual. Easley's out, too. Volquez is virtually unhittable against righties this year and is striking out righties at a rate of better than one out of three batters.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 20 2008 11:09 AM |
Doesn't make sense then that he'd wait until today to start Castro and sit The Schneid.
KC Jul 20 2008 11:28 AM |
Beltran with a nice AB in the first and a whole new approach from yesterday
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 20 2008 11:33 AM |
Yabbut, Anderson returns to the shit list.
KC Jul 20 2008 11:33 AM |
I hope settling for one and leaving the bases loaded doesn't come back to
bmfc1 Jul 20 2008 11:34 AM |
Geez, Marlon is signed through '09.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 11:45 AM |
Those darn Phils are up 2-0 in the 3rd.
Rockin' Doc Jul 20 2008 11:51 AM |
Come on team. Volquez doesn't appear to have his best stuff right now. The Mets need to take advantage and try to knock him out of the game before he finds himself.
Rockin' Doc Jul 20 2008 11:55 AM |
In the first two innings, the Mets have 4 singles, 2 walks, a stolen base, and a wild pitch by Volquez thrown in for good measure, yet they have only scored one run. I'm afraid the Mets failure to cash in when they've had these early opportunities is likely going to haunt them later in the game.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 11:56 AM |
That darn Dunn.
Rockin' Doc Jul 20 2008 11:57 AM |
A home run by Adam Dunn leading off the Reds second inning and just like that it's a tie ball game.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 12:05 PM |
That darn Delgado's been raykin!

CASTRO!
OlerudOwned Jul 20 2008 12:10 PM |
Brandon Phillips is something bordering ridiculous.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 20 2008 12:11 PM |
Let's sneak Brandon Phillips onto the plane on the way out tonight and say he's Marlon Anderson.

It's Sunday , Baseball Tonight will have it's web gems of the week later.
Frayed Knot Jul 20 2008 12:12 PM |
You calling Castro on Monkey?
bmfc1 Jul 20 2008 12:12 PM |
I'd hate to be a fan of a team w/the GM that traded him. Oh, wait.
Frayed Knot Jul 20 2008 12:14 PM |

Gary claiming he's never seen that backhand flip to 1st before. Does he not remember Robbie Alomar ... or is he only saying he's never seen it done succesfully before?
Zvon Jul 20 2008 12:17 PM |
I saw that play and I thought "gosh, it must be so hot out there he has no energy."
Zvon Jul 20 2008 12:19 PM |
LMAO! That didn't occur to me. I have none made just for Castro so I tried to pull one outta the bag that hasn't been posted in a while (if that one ever was).

Speaking of never seeing something, I don't think I ever saw anyone have

AG/DC Jul 20 2008 12:33 PM |
If he dudn't get his head in the game, the ghost of Gil Hodges is going to go out there and lift him from the game.

John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 20 2008 12:34 PM |

Perhaps he'll get a new job, as a scout or something.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 12:35 PM |
Speed kills too?
Zvon Jul 20 2008 12:39 PM |
that darn Encarnacion.
TransMonk Jul 20 2008 12:39 PM |
Just like that, it's tied.
OlerudOwned Jul 20 2008 12:44 PM |
One of these days the Mets are going to do something horrible and blow a game and I'm going to be really sour, and then it's going to cut to that goddamned Derek Jeter Ford commercial and and aahhh
Frayed Knot Jul 20 2008 12:54 PM |
Where the frick is Delgado going?
KC Jul 20 2008 01:00 PM |
He's going to get an Edge.
Nymr83 Jul 20 2008 01:01 PM |

i wish people would get off that BS already, omar was managing a team that had been taken over by mlb and was in danger of imminent contraction, he tried to trade guys who would never have played in Montreal anyway to help win then.
Nymr83 Jul 20 2008 01:04 PM |
Pelfrey leads off the 6th, I feel like willie would have pinch-hit here with Pelfrey having gone 5 and allowed 4
bmfc1 Jul 20 2008 01:06 PM |
I'm well aware of that, Nymr83--just trying to be funny. Omar was in a desperate situation at that time.

Marlins tie Philly in the 8th.

Zvon Jul 20 2008 01:13 PM |

Nymr83 Jul 20 2008 01:13 PM |
Phillips heard us talking about him.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 01:16 PM |
An upper deck job.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 01:23 PM |
Excellent baseball!

TransMonk Jul 20 2008 01:23 PM |
Delgado has had himself a pretty excellent series.

Cantu wins it for the Marlins.
KC Jul 20 2008 02:10 PM |
Grand slam single looked like for Cantu.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 02:11 PM |
Fish win as Cantu hits one off the wall in left.
KC Jul 20 2008 02:18 PM |
On to the 10th, Sanchez earned his Schaefer today.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 02:19 PM |
Couple a pitches there looked to me like Sanchez was over throwing, but he gives us another nice inning of work.

Ill take it any way we get it.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 02:24 PM |
Encarnacion gets the error but i think the deal there was Phillips did not have the energy to cover 2nd base.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 02:27 PM |
Its really nice to be glad when Delgado comes to the plate these days.
Zvon Jul 20 2008 02:28 PM |
Ill take it.

TheOldMole Jul 20 2008 02:28 PM |
They had him, he doesn't drop it. Daring baserunning pays off.

Congrats to the Mets, us, and most all, MGIM!

Just posted this on MGIM's Facebook Wall: What Gary Cohen should have said: He struck him out and the ballgame is over! The Mets have finished their split with the Reds, back in First, and Mets Guy In Michigan has finally seen his Mets win after 11 straight losses over the span of 17 years!

Tell 'em not to open that package I impulsively sent to him. Seriously, um, yay? I had to go to a 2-year-old birthday party for one of Lunchpail's little pals and missed all the good parts, looks like.
AG/DC Jul 20 2008 04:25 PM |
I hate when I get to a party and it's already two years old. All the cashews have been picked out of the mix.
Frayed Knot Jul 20 2008 04:51 PM |
I didn't have a good feeling about this game the longer it dragged on.
themetfairy Jul 20 2008 04:54 PM |
Don't worry Edgy - I always bring extra cashews.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 20 2008 10:28 PM |
G-FAFIF was being kind. Truth be told, I was weepy and giddy and probably incoherent. To have them win it the way they did....my heart was racing. It was just a baseball game, and yet, it was ... everything!
soupcan Jul 21 2008 12:22 PM |
Congrats MGIM.
Rockin' Doc Jul 21 2008 05:11 PM |
Hey, don't get crazy there Captain. I'm as happy as the next guy to see MGIM's streak come to an end, but we don't wish to tempt fate, especially in the upcoming homestand against the Phillies. I mean, even Anthony Young won a game every once in a while.
