Yanks must be hoping he bounces back from his 2008 form (.218/.315/.381) and regains his 2007 form (.205/.295/.399).

I wonder if Matsui is done for the season , really I don't wonder that as I couldn't give a fuck if he's out for the season or not.

Reading here that Sexon has a .344 average versus lefties.

Two years ago, he was actually much better [url=http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bsplit.cgi?n1=sexsori01&year=2006#plato-plato]against righties[/url]. For his career, he's slightly better [url=http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bsplit.cgi?n1=sexsori01&year=c#plato-plato]vs. LHP[/url], but he's really not much of a platoon candidate.

He does hit lefties well, and unlike other players the Yankees use at first base he can actually field the position. With Matsui likely done, he's a cheap upgrade over their other options for DH and 1B, at least against a lefty. But I'll be shocked (not to mention peeved) if this turns out to be a major benefit to the Yankees.
