Saturday Knight Live (IGT 7/26)
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 04:15 PM |
good guys lineup as I go for 4 straight:
bmfc1 Jul 26 2008 04:20 PM |
Jerry goes for the what is undoubtedly the first battery consisting of former members of the Somerset Patriots.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 05:19 PM |
The Mets are likely going to need to score a lot of runs tonight to get a win.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 05:21 PM |
Ankiel singles to drive in the first run. Bases are still loaded with no outs and Troy Glaus up for the Cardinals. Knight needs to get out of this mess with minimal damage. I'm hoping for a 6-4-3 DP here.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 05:23 PM |
Best have someone warming up in the pen. It's not looking good as Knight walks in a run.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 05:25 PM |
ugh. Endy providing a preview of Manny's outfield play.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2008 05:26 PM |
With the Phillies and the Marlins having already won, I'm ready to chalk this us as a bad day.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 05:27 PM |
Knight is throwing batting practice out there as Miles singles for the fourth Cardinal run. Luckily, La Genius has his pitcher hitting 8th, hopefully Knight can handle him.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2008 05:29 PM |
I'm setting a goal for Brandon Knight:
KC Jul 26 2008 05:30 PM |
Well that was fun to watch.
TransMonk Jul 26 2008 05:30 PM |
That first inning was bad, but it could have been worse.
batmagadanleadoff Jul 26 2008 05:33 PM |
Reyes' double would've been a triple in the Polo Grounds.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 05:40 PM |
good call
Valadius Jul 26 2008 05:44 PM |
Well we got a couple back.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2008 05:44 PM |
I don't give a damn how he pitches during the Olympics. I only care how he pitches in Flushing today.
TransMonk Jul 26 2008 05:53 PM |
An ugly 0 is still round with a whole in it.
batmagadanleadoff Jul 26 2008 05:58 PM |
Reyes' double would've been a double in the Polo Grounds.
Nymr83 Jul 26 2008 06:09 PM |
The resurgence continues, Delgado cuts the Cardinal lead to 4-3.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 06:19 PM |
We tyed this wigginton
batmagadanleadoff Jul 26 2008 06:32 PM |
Reyes' Home Run would've been a Home Run in the Polo Grounds.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 06:32 PM |
Things are really breaking good for Met fans these days.
batmagadanleadoff Jul 26 2008 06:36 PM |
Maybe not. I'm not as sure as I was when I first wrote the post above.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 06:37 PM |
Really the 1st inning wasn't so rough on Knight until the cheapie bloop single, accidental HBP and misplayed fly ball loaded the bases with nobody out.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 06:46 PM |
Dark Knight gets the Joker to ground out and he's in line for a winnigan.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 06:54 PM |
Robinson Cancel: has any Met with a bigger mass-height ratio ever beaten out a DP grounder and then stolen second?
batmagadanleadoff Jul 26 2008 06:54 PM |
No way that Hr leaves the Polo Grounds. http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/PoloGrounds.html#diag Roll your mouse over the Shea link on the right side for an easy Shea to Polo comparison. The position of home plate is identically situated in each of the stadium diagrams.
batmagadanleadoff Jul 26 2008 06:56 PM |
The Mets used three catchers this year with the initials of R.C. (Robinson Cancel, Ramon Castro & Raul Casanova).
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 07:08 PM |
This pitching change is brought to you by Spalding:
TransMonk Jul 26 2008 07:10 PM |
Agbayani never did it.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 07:12 PM |
Benny had good speed for a fattie, but Cancel looks stouter. He's certainly not as tall.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 07:14 PM |
Give it up for Feliciano, girlfrien'.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 07:17 PM |
No way is that hit going to be the difference tonight.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 07:19 PM |
I gsve it up too quickly, girlfrien'.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 07:31 PM |
Kablang!
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 07:33 PM |
Nymr83 Jul 26 2008 07:56 PM |
unlike the met bullpen, delgado isnt ready to lose this game.
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2008 07:57 PM |
It's only the 7th inning, no?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 08:00 PM |
Well, now it's the 8th.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 08:04 PM |
Duaner gets an out!
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 08:06 PM |
Lunchbucket - "I secretly hate it when the No. 9 guy reaches with 2 out and nobody on and the Mets in need of a run. I feel like Reyes has more juice when he leads off a frame. Plus it keeps our No. 2 hitter from leading off."
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 08:08 PM |
AG/Dc - "Duaner gets an out!"
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 08:09 PM |
Done.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 08:09 PM |
Thank you, Duaner.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 08:10 PM |
How about LaRussa letting Izzy hit for himself with 2nd & 3rd, only to take him out the following inning anyway?
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 08:15 PM |
Single and a wild pitch gets Endy in scoring position with no outs.. The big sticks need to come through and get him home.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 08:16 PM |
Wright strikes out. I have faith that one of the two Carloses will come through.

McClellan brings the funke.
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2008 08:19 PM |
Guh.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 08:20 PM |
Ugh! Wright - Delgado - Beltran all go down swinging to end the threat and strand Chavez at second.
TransMonk Jul 26 2008 08:20 PM |
That's brutal. Runner on second, no one out and our 3-4-5 hitters all fan.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 08:28 PM |
Pujols vs. Schoneneweis = mismatch.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 08:29 PM |
Like I said, mismatch.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 08:30 PM |
Yeah, Pujols didn't stand a chance.*
Methead Jul 26 2008 08:34 PM |
I DON'T BELIEVE IT

Going to break on MLB.TV you could hear Keith say "Unbelievable!"
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 08:42 PM |
Is Heilman the only guy left after Wags? I think?
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 08:46 PM |
Halfway done with Monk's blueprint. Now let's finish the job.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 08:53 PM |
Delgado with a second chance to deliver Endy from second.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 08:54 PM |
Cool, they played "Regatta de Blanc."

Another bunt, another scoreless inning.
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 08:56 PM |
Gotta go with Wagner a 2nd inning here, no?
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 08:57 PM |
So say I.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 09:04 PM |
Nice inning for Billy.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 09:05 PM |
Wagner sets them down again. It's time to end this game.

Castro is our last hitter...
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 09:15 PM |
Last man off the bench PHing
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 09:17 PM |
To 12 we go and here comes Heilman.
TransMonk Jul 26 2008 09:17 PM |
Gah...why won't this game end?
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 09:17 PM |
I didn't like AReyes swinging at that 2-0 pitch.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 09:28 PM |
yup.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 09:29 PM |
Nice!
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 09:30 PM |
A little dicey there Aaron but at least you wriggled out of it.
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2008 09:33 PM |
This guy is going to get behind everybody and still wiggle out of it, isn't he?
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 09:34 PM |
I thought Schu trapped that.
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 09:35 PM |
Dang! Real close to two hits, got neither, should have got one.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 09:36 PM |
Crowd cheering on Jerry for arguing. How about that?
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2008 09:36 PM |
On field delay? Does that mean there's an argument? Are we getting fucked?
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 09:37 PM |
With oomph.
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 09:38 PM |
Bang-bang play at 1st w/Chavez. Called out, replay showed was just safe. Jerry gave it a 30-second argument. Some fan got winged by a foul liner earlier.

Has our color-coded "Bullshit" meter been downgraded from "malice?"
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 09:42 PM |
Delgado fouling them off from his knees.
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 09:43 PM |
Now we just need a single ... at least to anyone not named Ankiel

Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 09:43 PM |
Sooner or later the Mets have to get a hit with RISP, don't they?
apmorris Jul 26 2008 09:43 PM |
hope he doesnt bunt
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 09:45 PM |
5 walks and 50+ pitches in 1-2/3 for this kid and he still hasn't let up a run.
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2008 09:46 PM |
There must've been some magic in that old Tatis we found...
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 09:48 PM |
That pitcher had NO business getting out of that inning.
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2008 09:49 PM |
2 innings. 27 strikes. 30 balls. 5 walks.
TransMonk Jul 26 2008 09:49 PM |
It just keeps going and going and going.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 09:50 PM |
At least Heilman got some rest there.
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 09:51 PM |
Heilman's going to have to bat next inning.
TransMonk Jul 26 2008 09:52 PM |
I hope that Johan's at home right now. If we ever needed him to go 9, it would be tomorrow.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 09:52 PM |
Fans booing Looper as a PH.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 09:57 PM |
Twenty-nine pitches after mowing them down. He's got to bat.
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 09:58 PM |
Eeek, Heilman now 1 for 44 with the bat.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 09:58 PM |
The bottom 3rd of the lineup haven't done a thing tonite and goes down on what? 5 pitches? this time.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 09:59 PM |
Gary telling Ronnie and Keith the details of the 4/4/85 game. I think they remember.

AG/DC Jul 26 2008 10:05 PM |
Six hits for Schu.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 10:05 PM |
Shumaker on base for the 12th time tonight, seems like. Luwick down looking on 3 and its Pooholes.

John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 10:06 PM |

AG/DC Jul 26 2008 10:07 PM |
You pitch to this beast?
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2008 10:07 PM |
Why did it have to be this asshole? Why couldn't it be a somewhat less gaping asshole?
TransMonk Jul 26 2008 10:08 PM |
Well, you can only dance with Pujols for so long before he's going to fuck you.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 10:08 PM |
'cause I don't.
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2008 10:09 PM |
As opposed to putting the go-ahead in scoring position for the lefty swinging Ankiel? ... yes I do.
Rockin' Doc Jul 26 2008 10:12 PM |
I agree with Knot. Nobody on with 2 outs, I would have walked him. However, I wouldn't have walked him to put the go ahead run on second base so Heilman could face the lefty Ankiel.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 10:13 PM |
Yeah, well, I was just askin'.
AG/DC Jul 26 2008 10:15 PM |
Jose, it's your game. Don't let any gassed-out back-of-the-bullpen guy take it from you.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 10:15 PM |
As manager, I would have told Heilman to strike him out as opposed to give up a 2-run homer. I don't what Jerry is doing out there.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 26 2008 10:19 PM |
Well so much for my mojo and the last 5 hours of my life
TransMonk Jul 26 2008 10:21 PM |

metsguyinmichigan Jul 26 2008 10:24 PM |
Hi guys,
G-Fafif Jul 27 2008 01:12 AM |
Knight battled in the best sense of the word. All of us wearing Mets on our apparel battled, including those of us who stuck it out all 14 innings in every section of the park and then tacked mass transit on at the end of the night.
themetfairy Jul 27 2008 07:57 AM |
It was a memorable night. Day. Whatever - I've lost all sense of time....
metirish Jul 27 2008 09:15 AM |
I started watching then switched over to the Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto fight , even with three previous fights and that fight going 12 rounds I still had time to turn back and watch the last three outs. Was amazed at how many fans were still at the stadium. I salute them all.
Fman99 Jul 27 2008 09:41 AM |
I quit after Tatis grounded out with the bases loaded in the 12th, or whenever that was. Went to bed.
Valadius Jul 28 2008 02:31 AM |
This may be the only picture we get of Brandon Knight in a Mets uniform:
Benjamin Grimm Jul 28 2008 07:30 AM |

Wow, thanks. That's almost perfectly UMDB proportioned too. (I had found some other photos but none of them were good enough. I'll be using this one.)
Valadius Jul 28 2008 12:38 PM |
No problem. Glad I could help.
