Jul 27 2008 10:59 AM

come on johan, its time to learn to complete a game after the whole bullpen pitched last night.

Jul 27 2008 11:01 AM

Willie Collazo replaces Brandon Knight on the roster. He gives the bullpen a fresh arm.

Nymr83
Jul 27 2008 11:13 AM

mets turn 2, lets score early!

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 27 2008 11:13 AM

Nice DP- only 8 pitches this inning.

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 11:16 AM

Santana opens with a walk, then gets a fly out and a DP grounder from Pujols.

On to the Mets half.

Start it off Jose.

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 27 2008 11:18 AM

Endy legs it out, just like he did last night in the 12th.

(not that I'm bitter or anything.)

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 27 2008 11:23 AM

Nice at bat by D-Dubs. Eat em alive, Delgado!

Nymr83
Jul 27 2008 11:25 AM

fuck. don't swing 3-0!

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jul 27 2008 11:25 AM

Gah, DP leading into everyone's favorite commercial!

Well, he did get a fastball, but it was too low to be swinging in that situation.

AG/DC
Jul 27 2008 11:28 AM

Keith argued for him to be swinging there, based on his hotness.

I think his hotness is partially a product of restraint.

That sounded like a great game yesterday, just from reading the box score.

Im still in shock that the Phils came back to win theirs.

Damn! He's so hot right now!

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 11:45 AM

Braves take a 2-0 lead on the Phils in the phirst.

TransMonk
Jul 27 2008 11:48 AM

Santana doing his job. 24 pitches get him to 3 hitless innings.

Anytime the offense wants to start hitting with RISP would be great.

AG/DC
Jul 27 2008 11:50 AM

Gameday says 26, but your point stands.

AG/DC
Jul 27 2008 11:51 AM

Hey Albert, if you want to argue, make sure you let Reyes score.

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 11:52 AM

WOW.
Crazy bunt single.

And Endy was out.
But we get the call. Yay!

AG/DC
Jul 27 2008 11:55 AM

I think he was out for leaving the baseline; I think evidence of the tag is inconclusive.

AG/DC
Jul 27 2008 12:00 PM

Mets booth drooling over Molina for three days. Suckers.

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 12:02 PM

Endy's makin it exciting all over the basepaths, lol.

Almost doubled off at second, almost thrown out at the plate.
But he ain't and he ain't and its 2-0 us.

Endy, you get that green light you don't need to look to the outfield.
Run man run!
He would have been out by a mile in any case.

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 12:20 PM

Rain delay in Philly.

AG/DC
Jul 27 2008 12:22 PM

Five innings and 49 pitches, as Glaus gets St. Louis' first hit.

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 12:26 PM

Nymr83
Jul 27 2008 12:27 PM

3-0 now on the HR, Santana needs to complete this game with this low pitch count (barring lots of rain which looks like its on the way)

AG/DC
Jul 27 2008 12:35 PM

Six innings, 62 pitches.

Zvon

Tatis is not letting Delgado walk off with that Player of the Month trophy.

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 12:43 PM

CASTRO!

AG/DC
Jul 27 2008 12:43 PM

Mather's getting whiplash.

Nymr83

Bring on the rain.

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 12:48 PM

Awww, thats got to be embarrassing.

Santana knocks one off the wall but does not run.
Lucky they didnt throw him out at 1st,lol.

AG/DC
Jul 27 2008 12:48 PM

Running praactice is in order for San Tanna.

Nymr83
Jul 27 2008 12:49 PM

santana's ball looked like it cleared the lower fence and hit that red fencing attached to the foul pole, but yeah wow why wasnt he running?

reyes doubles and its 2nd and 3rd.

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 12:49 PM

He would have scored on the JReyes double.

Tsk,tsk to u Johan.

Nymr83
Jul 27 2008 12:57 PM

beltran with homerun-robbery!

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 12:59 PM

OH!!!!!

What a catch by Beltran!!!!!!!!!

Snowcone HR robber.

And he was just gliding back so slow on that.
Amazing.

Aw, then Pujols goes yard.

That was one of the better catches I have seen.

Pujols then hits one out.

AG/DC
Jul 27 2008 01:00 PM

Mmmm... sno-cone.

Too bad he couldn't grab Pujols' shot also.

La Genius brings in Boggs on one days rest?

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 01:13 PM

Wow.
Santana DRILLS a single for his 1st ever RBI as a Met.

Everybody hits!

duan
Jul 27 2008 01:14 PM

i think he's letting mitchell pay back the rest of the pitching staff for his lousy outing on Friday that got them into this mess.

SteveJRogers
Jul 27 2008 01:17 PM

Just got word that the Cards' charter to Atlanta is still stuck on the ground in Chicago! Going to be quite a long Sunday for the Cards in NYC!

Sounds like they are gonna send him down soon and they want him to mop up this mess. To me it's like LaRussa throwing in the flag.
And that I like.

Jul 27 2008 01:21 PM

thats a fantastic non catch by tatis. not sure i understand why its not a catch, but call it even for endy's single earlier, i guess.

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 01:21 PM

Awww, Tatis caught that but can't hold on.
Great none-catch.

First for the Mets all year (they had two a year ago.)

Zvon
Jul 27 2008 01:40 PM

Nice.
Man did we need this.
A complete game gives the pen some rest.

Frayed Knot
Jul 27 2008 01:44 PM

A nice, tidy, sub-2:30, CG (w/2 hits), 1 BB, 6 hitter ...just what the doctor ordered

That's 2 consecutive 2-of-3's that could have been sweeps - but if that's the worst that can happen I'll take 'em.

Nymr83
Jul 27 2008 02:02 PM

thats a good job by johan getting the pen some much needed rest. lets see if the mets can stay on a roll tommorow

Clueless Koolaid Guzzler
Jul 27 2008 04:37 PM

Santana and the offense came through big time and turned this one into a laugher. Nice bounce back after last night's tough loss.

Let's Go Mets!

Coming back from Shea at 6:00 pm today was much more fun than when I came back form Shea at 3:00 am.

This was fun - it make up for the bad taste of the previous game.

But after 23 innings of baseball in less than 24 hours, I'm beat!

I'm watching the replay now.

This is tailor made to be a Mets classic. A great pitching performance, offense aplenty, and Beltran's amazing catch. Plus it's short enough that they don't have to cut a thing to make it fit within SNY's time constraints.

Wow. Watching Johan tip his cap as the fans chanted, "Jo-han, Jo-han" after the game gave me goosebumps.
