Brandon Knight. He's being called up to pitch in Pedro's spot.

I know -- cups a coffee with the Yanks 6 years ago, good in NOLA. What are our hopes and predictions for him?

A lot would have to fall into place, but would he be the first guy to win a gold medal and championship ring in the same year (the Ken Morrow of baseball?)

Let's see... Doug Meintkiewitcz won a gold medal in 2000 and a WS in 2004 Jose Contreras won a gold in 1996 and a silver in 2000 and a WS in 2005 Mike Kinkade won a gold in 2000 and had 2 AB for the NL Champion Mets the same year El Duque won gold in 1992 and a couple of WS with some team a few years later Tad Iguchi won silver in 1996 and a WS in 2005 Troy Glaus won a bronze in 1996 and a WS in 2002 Jeff Weaver won a bronze in 1996 and a WS in 2006 Braden Looper won a bronze in 1996 and WS's in in 2003 and 2006 Graeme Lloyd won a few WS with the MFY's and a silver in 2004 I think that's it for WS winners who were medalists. Mike Kinkade was actually the closest as far as I can tell. One name from the past I came across- 2004 bronze medalist Norihiro Nakamura. You think the Mets are OK at third without him?

Wow, I had forgotten about him. He washed out, so it'd probably be a moot point, but what if he'd signed here and they'd dealt Wright? Jeez.

Knight is the most unlikely rook to come to Queens since Mike Bishop. I hope he becomes King of Beijing.

Gold in China would beat trying to fighting off a bunch of rookies just to become a pawn in the 5th starter roulette wheel.
