Tons, I suppose. Haven't had a chance to sort through properly, but didn't want them to completely flee our mental air space before noting a few uberhighlights.

• 2000 NLCS Games 3, 4, 5
--Hampton's, Timo's, Zeile's finest hours as Mets

• 2006 NLCS Games 1, 2, 6, 7
--Endy and some other stuff

• '69 Division Clincher
--Ended on a Torre double play

• September '85 showdown
--Before this week versus Philly it was the only time (9/10 and 9/12) that the Mets faced the team they were tied for first with this late in the season; Mets took two of three, all three one-run thrillers

• September '87 showdown
--Mostly Pendleton

• Welcome to New York, Gary Carter
--4/8/85 Opening Day for the ages

• Marathon Men
--9/11/74, 25 innings, Hank Webb throws it away at last

• Keith vs. Allen
--Mex drives in runs four straight at-bats, including the winner off guy he was traded for, 7/24/84

• Big Mac Big Deal
--McGwire hits HRs 50, 51 in twinighter, 8/20/98

• Dance On Your Knees
--Ordonez makes impossible throw to nail Clayton at plate in Opening Day comeback 4/1/96

• Oh Very Young
--AY sets new consecutive loss mark, 6/27/93

• Happi-Lee He Returns
--Mazz hits first Met homer in second go-round, 8/16/86

• Silvio, Mother
--Surprising Mets win opener of Memorial Day DH in '78, edge to within one game of .500 before Silvio Martinez ruins the illusion they're any good by shutting them out and putting them away for the rest of the decade

• Mookoff Homer
--Wilson beats Sutter to cap weekend sweep as split-season pennant race fantasy heats up, 9/3/81

• Two Carloses Beat an Albert
--Delgado's 400th, Beltran's blast overshadow Pujols pummeling, 8/22/06

• Green Achers
--Shawn stuns defending chumps in eleventh, 6/25/07

• Strike Fund
--Mets return from job action to open 1995 season on a Friday night; fans throw dollar bills on field, 4/28/95

• Stick It In Your Shirt
--Daryl Boston gets HBP'd ever so lightly with bases loaded in extras, early enough in '92 to believe it's an omen

• New Kids on the Block
--Bordick, Trammell each HR in Met debuts to key victories, last weekend of July 2000 (that Steve Phillips, he's a genius)

And many more. I did this one without a net and know there must be dozens more, right up to this afternoon's Santana CG/Beltran catch on the heels of the 14-inning mini-marathon.

Goodbye Cardinals (unless you fly in for October).

"Silvio, Mother"

Just in case you were wondering, at least 1 person got this reference.

Tons, indeed, but the only one that matters to me is this one:

That "game memory" from a six-year-old kid is mine.

June 12, 1982 was the first Mets game to which I ever had tickets and had circumstances keep me from going (not counting the game my parents bought tickets to in 1972 and didn't use because some stupid doctor said I was sick). Had to move furniture for the laying of carpet in my father's new office all day that Saturday and it just got too late to go. When the Mets built a 6-0 lead, I was banging my head against the wall. "I'll never see them lead 6-0...ever!" I was also PO'd because I fancied this a showdown for first place.

Glad one of us got to go.

I was at the first of those games, the one that Bordick homered in. It also featured the longest homer I ever saw hit at Shea, which was Piazza's blast.

I believe Mook listed that ahead of Game Six when asked for moments in his career that he's most fond of.

I was at this one - 5/30/1978.

Silvio Martinez Major League debut. A complete game 1 hitter against the Mets, the only hit being a Steve Henderson solo homerun.

I went looking for the pic of KC & I at the Welcome A-Bordick Game, but struck out. I am sure if I hook up the old zip drive and crusie through those discs I may find one.

BTW, aside from the three Eastern rivals, the Padres, Astros and Cubs are the teams that haven't made their final vists to Shea yet.

Plenty of big moments to remember from the latter two, and a great Seaver game from the Pads.

God willing there is also 1 American League team that has yet to make a final 2 or 3 visits to Shea.

IIRC, the Pirates have a one game make-up at Shea on 8/11.

Fair point, and two more visits from two different NL opponents as well!
