Posada out for season

He's going to have season-ending surgery on his shoulder so as to try and be back for the start of next year.

Really his "decision" was pretty much forced by the Nady acquisition. Damon now has nowhere to go but DH and that takes care of the only place Posada currently could fit.
The other guy who Nady probably spells the end for is Abreu. He'll finish the season but most likely doesn't get re-upped as Nady is under club control for next year.

Well, too bad for him.

I guess David Altchek wasn't holding out all his magic for the Yankees after all.

That's a $52 million contract in jeopardy for the Yanks.

Welcome to the Bronx, Gerald Laird?

In a surprise to much of the NY media, Derek Jeter placed his hands on Posada's shoulder but failed to cure the injury.

Jeez, I had forgotten it was a 4-year deal they just agreed on ... 'twas thinking 3.
Not off to a good start now is it and who knows if and how much he'll be able to catch over the next few years?

In the meantime Nady got his first hit as a Yank, a HR to make it 11-1 Bal'mer.
No word on whether he proclaimed HR-ing at Yanqui Stadium II to be his lifelong dream as seems required by all incoming Stepford ballplayers.

I wonder if Mark Teixeira is thinking the same thing.
