Shinjo Pitches

I can't get the details clear on this, but apparently he came out of retirement, perhaps on May 18th, to record the final out for his hometown Softbank Hawks, and, well, put on a show.

For those of you scoring at home, or building a database of Metly numbers, his number was his disembodied head.

I miss Shinjo. One of my all-time favorite Mets.

Yeah, but it'd be pretty fuckin' strange if he came out of retirement to record one out in May, while shaking his ass, then celebrated by circling the stadium collecting high-fives, starting with the opposing dugout.

Yeah, but he got the out, which is more than some of our pen can say these days!

If it took a gold glove and his face on the uniform for Feliciano to get some outs, I'd take it!

No, that would be the greatest thing in the history of things, because it would make WFAN callers' (and probably Chris Russo's) heads explode.

Well, the good news is that if Chris Russo's head exploded, they wouldn't have to worry about there being icky brain matter all over the place.

I think this video illustrates why Shinjo found it hard to believe that players here in the States thought of him as a hot dog. Considering how outlandish he is when left to his own devices, he was downright boring during his time here.

Pretty generous strike zone there on strike two. Who knew Angel Hernandez moonlighted in Japan.
