Credit Card Reward Points

I've been using the Hilton Honors Visa for years, but I'm considering dropping it - I amassed a lot of points (and I mean a not - I put my property taxes on that card!) last month that didn't make it onto my statement, and the Hilton Honors crew is not handling the situation with the sense of urgency that I feel is warranted under the circumstances (the mistake was totally on their part. My only mistake was in trusting them in the first place).

I'm thinking about using a different card in the future. What reward points cards do you guys like?

I only do the airline tickets cards. I've never had a problem with them crediting the dollars/miles and I've gotten several free trips that way.

I've done the same. (It helped me and my family fly free to Tokyo a couple of years ago! Almost $5,000 in savings!) But I may think about switching to something else. Airlines are implementing rules that make award travel more of a pain.

American Express.

I get a boatload of points because I have my personal and business accounts linked.

Takes care of the airfare for all 5 of us on family vacations everytime we go away.

I never thought I would see this thread title on my favorite place to hang out online...and it's kind of scary.

I work for a corporation that handles third party programs for small to mid-sized financial institutions. My job, specifically, is designing and setting up credit and debit rewards programs with these banks.

I would feel dirty recommending any cards that offer great credit rewards, but would be happy to send you a PM this week with what features I would expect a competitive rewards program to offer.

My card, I don't ever recall enrolling, offered free mongramming and ocasional $10 discount coupons off LL Bean merchandise but after Bank of America ate up MBNA, the Beans pulled out and now my card has a picture of trees and streams and mountains but no affinity rewards as far as I can tell. Whatever, I said, just knock the damn interest down. I only used the coupons a few timeas and I don't monogram my shit.

Thanks TM - I'd appreciate the guidance.

I've used the Marriot card for years (I was grandfathered in so don't have to pay a yearly card fee). Taken quite a few hotel stays for free, so it's nice for traveling. If you stay at a Marriott, you get extra points (even if you're staying for free).

I've also been amassing points on my American Express Optima card, but haven't redeemed them yet.

For the second month in a row, I have to get the Hilton Honors bozos to track down my points and add them to my account.

I'm definitely in the market for a different card.

With my extensive work travel, I have the Hilton Rewards card. Trouble is, you can really only use it to earn stays at Hilton. I prefer the Starwood Points program (Sheraton and whatnot) where I can easily transfer earned point to airline miles.

Thanks. It's good to know that Starwood and Sheraton are related.
