I understand wanting to have this feature when neccessary, but I hope the mods don't go overboard with it if installed. There are often genuine reasons for having different threads on the same, or similar, topics and I've already expressed my dislike for too many 'All-Purpose' threads.

I'm thinking it would be used when there are three distinct "Pedro's dad is dead" threads all opened within a few hours. Of course, the power can be abused. All threads could be merged into the one, all-encompassing "All Purpose Thread."
