I'll consider it. I guess I'm inclined to go with the cards I'm most fond of, which are the 1971, 1972, and 1973 sets. I continued buying cards into the 80's before I tired of the whole thing, but to me, the coolest cards are the ones that were issued when I was 8, 9, and 10 years old.
Also, it's harder to find photos that go with those earlier years, before action shots were used. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the first year we saw players in action on standard Topps cards was 1971, and I think those were always full-body shots taken from a distance.

The '67 Topps' just might be my all-time favorites also, although I was too young to collect that set when it was originally out. An elegant, uncluttered design ... players' faces usually occupy at least 20% of the card ... all poses but I never did like those action shots where the player's head is not even half the size of a dime.

Yeah, it will be nearly impossible to find quality photos of modern players in poses like those. (I do like how all three photos were clearly taken at Shea.

The Elliot one is a personal favorite. You can't tell from that shot, but his hat is the same color of his eyes, born with the burden to be a hero.
That '67 set should just be called, "The Shea Scoreboard Collection." How much free advertising did the Mets get?

You and I are of the same vintage. 1970 was my first year buying and 1967 was the first set to which I was exposed. It never occurred to me until it was brought up in this thread that your handiwork doesn't simply place new pictures in old designs but is intended to replicate the kinds of photos used. My hat's now doubly off to you.

Yes, and it's a real (ahem) drag when one of those two does so.
What I really like about those '67 Topps' is the large canvas; how the photo takes up almost the entire card and doesn't compromise any space for text. They remind me of the great Sporting News covers from the late '60's through the mid 70's, or the classic Sports Illustrated covers before that mag started cluttering up its' covers with so much type, you could hardly see what the hell picture was on the cover anymore.
There's a sweet Ozzie Sweet look to some of those cards, too.

I think in this case quantity triumphed over quality. Heilman pitched in four games more than Wagner did. He earned points in 12 different games, earning more than 1 point on July 9, 11, and 29. Wagner earned points in 10 games, and the only one in which he earned a full point or more was July 26, when he pitched 2 innings and got no decision. In his one-inning saves, he earned his most points, 0.91, on July 11 and as little as 0.46 on July 23.

As for the guys who finished ahead of Tatis, three of them were starting pitchers:
Mike Pelfrey, in five starts, earned 5.45, 5.04, 4.64, 4.38, and 1.04 points.
Oliver Perez had five starts and earned 4.96, 3.84, 3.5, 3.44 , and 2.42 points.

The 1972 Seaver is my favorite card of all time.
The 1974 Heilman mock-up was outstanding. And count me among the people stunned to see him there. That must be a steady case of 1 and 2 points a game adding up.

BTW, I didn't create that mock Franco card. (Though I would never pass up the opportunity to otherwise mock Franco!). Apparently in the 1990's, there was a magazine that would create cards of contemporary baseball players in the format of older style Topps cards.

Now that you mention it, I thought the font was the tiniest bit off on METS on Franco.

It is and good eyeballs. I know that '70 set inside out. Those were the first cards I ever collected, and I believe that those cards dominated my life that year. I got a horizontal Mets team picture with the "Worlds Champions" designation over the top in the very first pack I ever bought. Some way to start, huh?
The '68 lettering on the mock Murray is off, too.
