A 'Nooner' IGT - Mets-Pads, Aug 7
Frayed Knot Aug 07 2008 08:29 AM |
Just in case some of you forgot about the early start today.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 07 2008 08:38 AM |
I definitely forgot. Hopefully Wright gets chained to the bench as punishment for having premarital relations with Molly Beers.
metirish Aug 07 2008 08:45 AM |
Manuel said last night Wright would be playing today.I think less gallivanting around the city with Beers would be a help.
AG/DC Aug 07 2008 08:49 AM |
I think Murphy or Tatis at third would be magical, along with occasional shots of Wright in the dugout trying to extricate his head from his ass.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 07 2008 09:11 AM |
How about Evans at 1B, Delgado with the day off, counters the unpredictable Jerry
Benjamin Grimm Aug 07 2008 09:12 AM |
I think Wright is in greater need of a "blow."
Frayed Knot Aug 07 2008 10:12 AM |
It's not like Wright (and the entire team for that matter) haven't already had two days off in the last 6.

Stinking Padres are all-or-nothing on our pitchers -- and they're doing enough of the "all" to be a pain in the butt.
soupcan Aug 07 2008 10:33 AM |
No more homeruns in the second for the Pods...
themetfairy Aug 07 2008 10:37 AM |
What sucked in the bottom of the first is that Wright was on third and Beltran was on first when Tatis was at bat, and he hit a line drive foul prior to his strikeout. A wasted opportunity.
soupcan Aug 07 2008 10:38 AM |
Murphy Ks. 1 dead.

soupcan Aug 07 2008 11:19 AM |
Yay Murphy!
Benjamin Grimm Aug 07 2008 11:19 AM |
I'm not quite ready to write him off yet. My guess is that he won't be a regular starting infielder, but he might be a decent 2B/SS bench player. I don't know if it will happen, but I'd like to see Murphy get some time at second base this year. I'd love him to take over the position next year, if he's up to it.
Benjamin Grimm Aug 07 2008 11:22 AM |
Still nobody out. Castro up, then Evans.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 07 2008 11:22 AM |
Yeah, I mean this is easy to say when he's batting .500 but of all the players we've gotten a glimpse of, Murphy at least looks like he knows what he's doing up there. Very good hands/wrists with the stick, knows how to work a count, etc.
Benjamin Grimm Aug 07 2008 11:22 AM |
Oops. Castro fans.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 07 2008 11:23 AM |

Frayed Knot Aug 07 2008 11:26 AM |
N.E. to J.C.L.: an R.B.I. F.U. Evans had some pretty good slugging numbers in the minors but his swing up here looks almost defensive, like he's so concerned about making contact that he's willing to settle for opp field bingles. Even his 3-double debut had more well-placed hits than anything really roped.
Benjamin Grimm Aug 07 2008 11:28 AM |
Santana's out. Jose up with two out and two on.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 07 2008 11:31 AM |

Well, that's what I'm saying. He's tentative, as his throw on the pickoff demonstrated, like he's not ready. I didn't say he sucked, or would always suck, or was incapable of hitting a single off the shitty Padres pitcher, or anything.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 07 2008 11:31 AM |
Would have been nice to give Johan some breathing room there. The six Ks and 2 walks make me think he's not throwing too many pitches and can go deep.
Benjamin Grimm Aug 07 2008 11:32 AM |

66 pitches through 4. A little on the high side.

Noble. NEW YORK -- Ramon Castro, who injured his right ankle in a play at the plate on Saturday in Houston, was removed from the Mets' game Thursday afternoon because of recurring pain in the same ankle. Playing for the first time since Saturday, Castro was the starting catcher. He struck out in his only two at-bats. Robinson Cancel replaced him.

I'll so take it. Bullpen is all over the place right now and the rest of the team needed to pick them up rather than feel sorry for themselves. Adversity can be a forge.
