A 'Nooner' IGT - Mets-Pads, Aug 7

Frayed Knot
Aug 07 2008 08:29 AM

Just in case some of you forgot about the early start today.

Santana vs Josh Banks
Banks got an 'ND' in one of those 2-1 losses in SD in early June, holding us to 1 run over 6 IPs
Santana got a loss the following day by giving up 2 runs in another 2-1 loss

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 07 2008 08:38 AM

I definitely forgot. Hopefully Wright gets chained to the bench as punishment for having premarital relations with Molly Beers.

metirish
Aug 07 2008 08:45 AM

Manuel said last night Wright would be playing today.I think less gallivanting around the city with Beers would be a help.

AG/DC
Aug 07 2008 08:49 AM

I think Murphy or Tatis at third would be magical, along with occasional shots of Wright in the dugout trying to extricate his head from his ass.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 07 2008 09:11 AM

How about Evans at 1B, Delgado with the day off, counters the unpredictable Jerry

Reyes, ss
A. Reyes, 2b
Wright, 3b
Beltran, cf
Tatis, rf
Murphy, lf
Castro, c
Evans, 1b
Santana, lhp

Benjamin Grimm

I think Wright is in greater need of a "blow."

Frayed Knot
Aug 07 2008 10:12 AM

It's not like Wright (and the entire team for that matter) haven't already had two days off in the last 6.
I suppose it depends on what he's been doing with that free time.

Stinking Padres are all-or-nothing on our pitchers -- and they're doing enough of the "all" to be a pain in the butt.

No more homeruns in the second for the Pods...

themetfairy
Aug 07 2008 10:37 AM

What sucked in the bottom of the first is that Wright was on third and Beltran was on first when Tatis was at bat, and he hit a line drive foul prior to his strikeout. A wasted opportunity.

I'm not quite ready to write him off yet. My guess is that he won't be a regular starting infielder, but he might be a decent 2B/SS bench player.

I don't know if it will happen, but I'd like to see Murphy get some time at second base this year. I'd love him to take over the position next year, if he's up to it.

Yeah, I mean this is easy to say when he's batting .500 but of all the players we've gotten a glimpse of, Murphy at least looks like he knows what he's doing up there. Very good hands/wrists with the stick, knows how to work a count, etc.

Well, that's what I'm saying. He's tentative, as his throw on the pickoff demonstrated, like he's not ready. I didn't say he sucked, or would always suck, or was incapable of hitting a single off the shitty Padres pitcher, or anything.

NEW YORK -- Ramon Castro, who injured his right ankle in a play at the plate on Saturday in Houston, was removed from the Mets' game Thursday afternoon because of recurring pain in the same ankle.

Well, very few managers call for a sacrifice with two outs.

And Show gets a vulture win in the process.

Big win. Needed this.

Thank you Mr Wright!

Still probably am not going to get much more work done tho.

When was the last time David did the walk-off homer thing?

Well, Aaron gets the W. But a W is a W is a W.

Oops, didn't see Heilman came in for two outs and gets the win. More fair.

Nope. Heilman got the last two outs.

Sorry - that game blew chunks.

Swept by the Astros and should've lost all three to the Padres.

Booo Mets.

Isn't it ironic?

PiazzaFan411

Well, Heilman get the win. Feliciano and Smith are credited with Holds and Schoeneweis gets a Blown Save.

I don't know what I would do if I were Jerry. . . but isn't he making matters worse by tiring out the BP by pitching pretty much every single one of them in every single game?

Following on gameday blows but looked like Santana pitched a gem, yes/no? , got to be somewhat depressing not to get the win.

From Mets Walk-Offs back on April 30th:
]I really thought, off the swing, that David Wright had hit his first career walk-off home run.

It wouldn't have been the first walk-off home run of Wright's major league career. It wouldn't have been the first walk-off home run of Wright's professional career.

It would have been the first walk-off home run that David Wright had ever hit in his life.

He's got eight of them and a game to win.

Those were only the 2nd & 3rd runs we'd scored off Heath in 8 IPs over 2 seasons.
His rather large butt had become quite a pain in my skinny one.

If they had lost this game, and the series, the would have been in a world of hurt. Tough to salvage something good out of that other than the excitement of the walk off-er.

Still, fucktards.

Oh, hell, they won the game. They won the game without their A team on the field. Or even their A- team. They won the game with three B-Mets, a Somerset Patriot, no Wagner, and a gassed Heilman.

No beer here at the office, but I'm having a celebratory cranberry juice and seltzer.

I'll so take it. Bullpen is all over the place right now and the rest of the team needed to pick them up rather than feel sorry for themselves. Adversity can be a forge.
