No way this team wins the division with Hanley batting leadoff. I'll not have it.

Neither will David.

Looks like Wright sure wants to redeem himself for that error the other night!

metsguyinmichigan
Aug 08 2008 06:25 PM

Carlos KABOOM!!!!!

Ollie is having a good night.

Aug 08 2008 06:32 PM

That was a nice job of extracting himself from trouble in the 2nd. A strong effort tonight would really help us guys.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 06:49 PM

That's a big wad of chew Ollies working tonight.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 08 2008 06:49 PM

Ollie looking pretty nasty.

I gotta say, I was prepared to believe last outing heralded a return to Bad Ollieland for a while.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 07:01 PM

I find it believable that Warthan is a better mentor for him.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 07:12 PM

That inning was a gift.

Aug 08 2008 07:16 PM

I'm not an Olympics fan, per se, but this opening ceremony is pretty fucking awesome.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 07:18 PM

Baseball, gentlemen.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 07:26 PM

Murphy faces his first lefty, hangs in there, doesn't get cheated, and gets a walk.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 07:27 PM

Pinto stays in to face Wright with the bags juiced?

OK.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 07:28 PM

Turns Wright over on a 2-0 pitch.

We go to the eighth!

And the Mets' pen!

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 07:32 PM

Heilman, suddenly the hot hand, on for the eighth. I didn't hear if he got boooooed.

Pirates/Phils scoreless in the eighth. Blanton out of the game.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 07:35 PM

Three up and three down for Aaron. Heart of the Fishie order coming in the ninth.

Stay tuned.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 07:51 PM

Excellent ending.

People who stinko:

  1. Boobirds

  2. All youse who went out on Friday night and missed this.

Well pitched game both from the Perez and Heilman with 2 strong innings of relief. It's amazing how much better I feel after this win than I did following last nights win.

An almost tension-free win. We're not used to those. Way to go Ollie and Aaron!

seawolf17
Aug 08 2008 07:59 PM

And you're all missing Lithuania's bright green shirts.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 08 2008 08:02 PM

I watched it. Also peeking on the opening ceremonies. Those kids dancing/doing karate in the huge circle pretty much put any marching band to shame.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 08:10 PM

And John Grabow gets E. Bruntlett to GDP and we're going to extras in Philadelphia.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 08:53 PM

End of 11 and we're still scoreless. This Beam character has done a good job for two innings for Pittsburgh.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 08:57 PM

Doumit leads off the 12th with a double and crosses to third on Moss groundout to Utley.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 08:59 PM

And Steve Pearce brings him home with another dubble!

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 09:06 PM

Rollins makes an excellent stop with two out but the throw wasn't in time and Freddie Sanchez comes up with two out and the bags packed.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 09:08 PM

Another good infield stop by Rollins but again not in time and it's 2-0 and Mienkiewicz up.

Mientiekiewicz?

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 09:08 PM

Grounder to third.

Let's finish it, Buccos.

Gwreck
Aug 08 2008 09:09 PM

Who's closing games now that they traded Marte?

What about those of us who went out to the game?

It was fantastic. Aaron heard it when he came in but everybody shut up pretty quickly.

David really looked as if he was swinging 100% for the fences in the first. But then he succeeded!

I thought Delgado's hit would be caught but that Beltran's would go out.

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 09:12 PM

Tonight, Craig Hansen, Sox refugee.

I think Grabow is the top dog now.

Gwreck
Aug 08 2008 09:25 PM

Wow. Victorino doubled off first to end the game.

metsguyinmichigan
Aug 08 2008 09:31 PM

Buccos do us a big favor!

Opening ceremonies were indeed sweet!

AG/DC
Aug 08 2008 09:41 PM

Alright!

The dog wouldn't let me stay in and watch. So we took a walk and thought Pirate thoughts.

Anybody else triple happy tonight?

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 08 2008 09:56 PM

Pretty spectacular torch lighting too, and probably looked better live than on TV.

metsguyinmichigan
Aug 08 2008 10:11 PM

Kinda what the Mets have planned for the final game!

I'm quintupilly happy. Mets win. Phillies, Marlins, Yankees lose. Rays win. If only the Red Sox had won, I'd be sextupilly happy.

This game just further illustrates that we can't hit. Two big swings scored all the runs. Not good.

soupcan
Aug 09 2008 09:50 AM

Good enough to win the game.

The game also illustrates that they can pitch.

AG/DC
Aug 09 2008 12:46 PM

And catch.

Nolasco is a heckuva pitcher on a nice run. I'll take it.

Meanwhile, they're third in the league in runs per game.
