IGT - 8/12 - Mets (Santana) vs. Nationals (Perez)
Centerfield Aug 12 2008 07:46 AM |
Time for the Mets to get the bad taste out of their mouths after having blown the lead, then me, then Vic. Blech.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 12 2008 07:52 AM |
As relayed in the Snooze today with lefty Odalis Perez going for the Nats, look for Castro to start or else reside deeper in Manuel's doghouse.

Keith complaining about being up in the rafters of National Stadium , Zimmerman gets the Nats on the board , 2 - 1 Mets.
AG/DC Aug 12 2008 05:32 PM |
Three hits in a row. That happens once a month for Washington.
metirish Aug 12 2008 05:37 PM |
Tied ball game.....they are slapping Santana around.
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 05:55 PM |
I love it when Keith gets all highfalutin and starts referencing Verdi.
Frayed Knot Aug 12 2008 05:58 PM |
Verdi and Custer referemces in the same game.
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 06:00 PM |
That was a great fuckin' play by Willie Harris.
AG/DC Aug 12 2008 06:06 PM |
Yup, as a Brave.
Frayed Knot Aug 12 2008 06:08 PM |
Would have been a monster inning if not for that catch.
AG/DC Aug 12 2008 06:13 PM |
Infield hits by Reyes are the type of luck that's the residue of design.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 12 2008 06:27 PM |
Is Johan not too sharp tonight? I see he hasn't walked anybody, but the hits seem high.
AG/DC Aug 12 2008 06:32 PM |
Well, he just walked Belliard. But then he avenged Harris by getting him to ground into a double play.
Nymr83 Aug 12 2008 07:03 PM |
Castro shows why he's in the dog house

Hey, Governor Morris.
metirish Aug 12 2008 07:18 PM |
Game tied , I blame Buckhardt , every time he's on something happens.
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 07:18 PM |
Fucking hell. At least he can't blame Heilman for this one.
metirish Aug 12 2008 07:22 PM |
Gary gives some not so good sounding stats that basically tell us that this team sucks after the first inning.
AG/DC Aug 12 2008 07:22 PM |
I blame the team. Can't be scoring three runs against this staff and expect Santanta to carry you home.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 12 2008 07:29 PM |
Something happening here! Two on and none out. C'mon Carlos, push at least one across!
AG/DC Aug 12 2008 07:35 PM |
At-bat of hugeness coming up.
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 07:38 PM |
And Old Man Hernandez is ranting again.
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 07:38 PM |
Manny Acta doing his best Earl Weaver, arguing the bases loaded HBP (or was it a wild pitch?) of Easley.
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 07:39 PM |
And yes, it hit him in the helmet, as the replay shows.
Frayed Knot Aug 12 2008 07:41 PM |
My first reaction is that it hit his helmet
And I pretty much agree with him. Most announcers praise all this umpire cooperation stuff but I think they over-do it and Hernandez is the only one (at least that I've heard) who says that decision-by-committee isn't necc the best way to go.
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 07:42 PM |
Santana's in the hole, with his bat and his helmet, chomping at the bit to get up there. Sandy Alomar is holding him back.
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 07:43 PM |
When you want a hit in a big spot, you send up Brian Schneider.
Frayed Knot Aug 12 2008 07:43 PM |
WonderBoy doesn't come though this time
Nymr83 Aug 12 2008 07:44 PM |
I don't like pulling Santana here. This bullpen has blown like a third of his starts this year, let the guy pitch!
metirish Aug 12 2008 07:45 PM |
Why PH for Castro when you then need to PH with Schneider?
AG/DC Aug 12 2008 07:45 PM |
I didn't much like pulling Castro, but I guess you go for contact there.
Nymr83 Aug 12 2008 07:47 PM |
well schneider is staying in (i assume) wit the pitcher going into the 8th spot i still dont like hitting for santana there
Fman99 Aug 12 2008 07:48 PM |
And so it begins again. Holy hell.
metirish Aug 12 2008 07:49 PM |
Can't you just keep Castro in to hit , then PH Santana with Murph....anyway the Nats are hitting again.
AG/DC Aug 12 2008 07:50 PM |
Yes you can. Or you can pinch hit for Castro and let Santana bat.
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 07:50 PM |
Eat it, Lastings.
Fman99 Aug 12 2008 07:50 PM |
They wanted a lefty bat there against the RH reliever Rivera. I don't mind the pinch hitting for Castro there but I'd have like to seen Santana with the bat and two out. Has Schneider hit any better than Johan this year?
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 07:51 PM |
Pay attention, Joe! Dammit.
seawolf17 Aug 12 2008 07:51 PM |

Nymr83 Aug 12 2008 08:01 PM |
go with Kunz please. i don't care that a lefty leads the inning off, i don't want Kunz being set up to fail with inherited runners.
Fman99 Aug 12 2008 08:02 PM |
Well you can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first.
Frayed Knot Aug 12 2008 08:02 PM |
Esp since Feliciano's 1st batter record isn't exactly stellar this year.

Aw shucks. I'm going Thursday (they're on their own tomorrow). The most subded Mets crowd in DC that I've ever seen. There was definitely a carry-over for us from yesterday's debacle. It was a nice night, and I was with my older son, watching my favorite team, but I was uneasy all night, like I'm sure you were, waiting for the bullpen for blow it. The game was 2:57 but it felt much longer. The Natiionals scoreboard is great. The Wilpon's should see it. The Nationals had all the right information on one board. The out-of-town board said that the Atlanta game was "DR." Never "P" or "Postponed." I assume that "DR" meant "Delayed Rain." The Florida game was "IR" which I assumed meant "Interrupted Rain." "R" would have done the trick. The woman behind me talked (and talked) about her friends "Dusty", "Bunny" and "Savannah." I wanted to ask her if all her friends were strippers. It was nice when there were two outs in the bottom of the 9th. All the Mets fan rose, like it was Shea.

My friend Jill couldn't be more respectable. So, no, I don't know how she ended up with two best friends named Brandi and Misty. Funny world.
