NEW YORK — Long bootlegged and sought after by collectors, the Clash’s Oct. 13, 1982, performance at New York’s Shea Stadium will finally see official release Oct. 7 via Legacy.

That was when they were opening for the Who (during the Who's "Farewell Tour"). I saw that same show in Oakland, looks like pretty much the same set list. Fabolous show.

Funny thing is that it turned out to be more a farewell tour for the Clash (introduced then as the new thing going on in England) than for the Who.

I guess it was also a farewell tour for opener opener David Johanson, who would disappear into Buster Pointdexter not long after.

I saw David Johansen about 5 years ago opening for --- The Who at MSG. Lenny's first concert.
