I love having the Mets running around the country beating up on other teams while the Phillies phail and Marlins flounder.

Just getting here after a church picnic. Jumping in and seeing us up 4-0 is not a bad thing!

If Wagner's not coming back, maybe they'll let Kunz into a game or two.

Pedro looking good. 64 pitches through 5 innings. Has allowed one hit in each of those innings but no real threats.

TransMonk
Aug 16 2008 06:30 PM

Castro hit it almost over the 412 sign in left center!

Monster KABOOM!

6-0 Mets.

The LaRoche brothers own a sight-seeing company in Louisiana that involves riding fanboats and spotting alligators.

Yeah, Pedro owes Beltran a big steak dinner.

Nice outing by Martinez ... I'm starting to think he's back.

My cousins were at last night's game, and saw Collective Soul as either the pre or post entertainment. I wonder if that is happening tonight as well?

seawolf17
Aug 16 2008 07:06 PM

The Pirates have postgame fireworks/concerts all weekend. REO Speedwagon two nights ago, Collective Soul last night. Don't remember who it is tonight, too uninterested to go to their site to look it up.

I just read this thread and tuned in to Mets.com where it says Reyes has seven bases in the first two innings.

Whydon'tcha post this shit for us latecomers, guys?

GUYS!

SteveJRogers
Aug 16 2008 07:08 PM

Hey don't look at me I just got here, heading over to MLB.com now and pulling up GameDay!

Country artist Phil Vassar tonight

SteveJRogers
Aug 16 2008 07:14 PM

Also Lynyrd Skynyrd on Sep. 20th

Yeah, Reyes is earning his beer with a triple, homer and 2 RBIs on the night.

SteveJRogers
Aug 16 2008 07:16 PM

8 "scattered" hits, 4 Ks, one run (homer by Andy LaRoche in the 7th).

In all, good outing for Petey.

seawolf17
Aug 16 2008 07:16 PM

I was sure we were looking at a three-car pileup right there. Glad that one fell out of play.

About time! Let's see what he can do.

SteveJRogers
Aug 16 2008 07:32 PM

Ruh-roh!

Need a nice Triple Play here!

seawolf17
Aug 16 2008 07:32 PM

Oh, this is why they haven't let Kunz pitch.

(Of course, if they let him pitch once in a while, he might remember where the strike zone is.)

metsguyinmichigan
Aug 16 2008 07:32 PM

Not gonna inspire confidence that way.

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Aug 16 2008 07:35 PM

2 ground balls and an HBP. He needs to keep it in the strike zone, though.

Someone lock Aaron Heilman in the clubhouse bathroom.

metsguyinmichigan
Aug 16 2008 07:39 PM

OK, Jerry. Come and get him.

TransMonk
Aug 16 2008 07:40 PM

I really wish we didn't need Kunz to be throwing ML innings this season.

I'm looking at you Omar.

SteveJRogers
Aug 16 2008 07:42 PM

Come on Joey, take it home.

metsguyinmichigan
Aug 16 2008 07:42 PM

He was just trying to get them within three runs so someone could get a save.

That would be the glass half-full version.

Chad Bradford would have looked nice tonight.

Wonder what the Mets can pick up between now and the 31st.

Marlins leading the Cubbies 2-1 tonight, in the 8th.

seawolf17
Aug 16 2008 07:45 PM

You know? My wife said "Pedro's pitching like Johan Santana tonight!" earlier this evening.

Fucking hell, bullpen.

Let's go, Other Pedro.

SteveJRogers
Aug 16 2008 07:46 PM

Feliciano in. Come on, lets bring this sucker in for the landing!

seawolf17
Aug 16 2008 07:47 PM

Oh JEEZUS I was sure that was a home run off the bat.

Two out.

SteveJRogers

Wolfie, did you pick up one of those Topps packs from any of your usual channels?

metsguyinmichigan
Aug 16 2008 07:50 PM

Scarier than it should have been, but we'll take it!

TransMonk
Aug 16 2008 07:50 PM

Save that shouldn't have ever been for Feliciano. I'm getting sick of this shit.

If Wagner is gone for any extended period of time past Monday, we are seriously fucked.

SteveJRogers
Aug 16 2008 07:53 PM

A win is a win, but yeah, this pen is still looking mighty scary. Even with a healthy Wagner.

This is what we are going to war with heading into the final month and a half of the regular season?

Really? I'm looking at all the bloggers that have been drooling for him to close.

Nothing wrong with giving the guy a gander.

TransMonk
Aug 16 2008 11:03 PM

A gander is fine...in September. It seems to me that he is being looked at to contribute in meaningful games this season. It feels desperate, and for a guy that had only pitched 60 pro innings, none above AA, unreasonable as well.
