Adam Rubin says that D-Wright gets the day off:

batmagadanleadoff Aug 17 2008 09:05 AM |
It's scrub day today with The Schneid and Argenis. You know what else annoys me about Argenis? Now I hafta write J. Reyes instead of just Reyes.
|
batmagadanleadoff Aug 17 2008 09:08 AM |
I guess the Mets lineup doesn't matter much today 'cause Santana's gonna throw an incomplete game shutout.
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 11:47 AM |
No 1st inning runs today?
|
TransMonk Aug 17 2008 11:47 AM |
A-Rey and Easy-E with first inning singles.
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 11:50 AM |
I guess this would be a good day to give Mr Wright a rest.
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 12:01 PM |
Schneider!
|
batmagadanleadoff Aug 17 2008 12:01 PM |
Dont'cha just love The Schneid? I know I do.
|
bmfc1 Aug 17 2008 12:01 PM |
Schneider has doubled his HR count for the season since Wednesday.
|
TransMonk Aug 17 2008 12:01 PM |
The Schneid...KABOOM!
|
batmagadanleadoff Aug 17 2008 12:03 PM |
The Schneid's off his schneid.

Remember a week or two ago when there were three or four games in a row when they didn't play the "Jeter has an Edge" commercials? I miss that.
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 12:06 PM |
Thats something I didn't expect.

Gotta love the Schnied! How can anyone not like him?
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 12:17 PM |
Nice DP by the Bucks on that hit & run.
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 12:33 PM |
YES. Beltran scores from 1st on a 2 out single!

Argenis is 3 for 3 as well...his BA back up to .284.
|

He's making the J and A business worth the effort :)
|
Frayed Knot Aug 17 2008 01:06 PM |
Beltran's HR looked the same as his single but about 10 ft higher

Got a freakin' hankering for pierogies. There used to be a frozen brand

Well for starters, Schneider sucks. So there's that.
|
Elster88 Aug 17 2008 01:31 PM |
Am I the only one that starts thinking no-hitter after the first inning?
|
Elster88 Aug 17 2008 01:31 PM |
|
I like this one.

Don't underestimate the value of a well rested catcher ;) Hey, maybe thats not a Castro prank. Maybe it's a anti-rally bubble.

Gary Cohen's going on and on about how Argenis is in the middle of everything. Not sure what Gary could mean what with Arsenio on-basing not even .300. Maybe Arugula's in the middle of killing every rally by making outs all the time. Arsenic's pretty damn good at making outs. Maybe that's what Gary meant. What the hell do you all think Gary was talking about?

Me too. I see the ball's expressions as stunned because of who hit it.

Oh if it was up to me, The Schneid would be the most well rested catcher in the history of the world.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 17 2008 01:38 PM |
Brandon Moss hurts himself spinning out of the box, saves the Mets from clumsy fielding.
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 01:39 PM |
Thnx Elster.
|
Elster88 Aug 17 2008 01:40 PM |
|
Actually not really. Delgado fielded it and was going to go to Santana covering first. When he saw Moss on his knees in the batter's box, he tried to go to second cuz he knew that he could take a shot and still get Moss at first.

It's funny. When J.Reyes, Wright, Beltran, and Delgado all hit well, of course whoever is hitting second is going to get taken along for the ride. So whenever Heinous gets those relatively rare hits he scores or knocks someone in and peeps think it's him. Edit: Specifying which Reyes.
|

And after that, there's that The Schneid's not even good enough to carry Ron Hodges' bat. But he gets to play more often than ol' #42. So there's that, too.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 17 2008 01:45 PM |

I can almost see putting him there today, with Wright out of the lineup, but there is no excuse to be batting Arrreyes in the two hole and while Murphy hits in the bottom part of the order. Murphy's plate approach (not to mention ability) just fits so much better. Of course maybe we're relatively fortunate that Murphy isn't batting 2nd and having a big chunk of his PAs wasted on bunts. Sigh. I'm going to go back to enjoying the winning now.

You mean J. Reyes? Or Argyle Reyes?
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 01:47 PM |
|
I'll take that to mean that he can carry his jock.
|
Elster88 Aug 17 2008 01:47 PM |
oops. fixed.

I know. Imagine the Mets putting an effective hitter in the #2 hole and letting him put his effectiveness to effect without the fu**in first inning sac bunts getting in the way? This has been mostly a foreign concept here since Valentine was fired. (Manuel's not much of a first inning sac bunter (thank god) but his choice of #2 hitters is another story).

Sean Burnett has no control right now, and the Pirates booth is analyzing his odd delivery. Lefty who plants hisleft foot on the 1st base side of the rubber.
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 01:59 PM |
Santana could strike out the side in the 8th.

Took my baby away. There's something comforting about sending out the ace against a bad team and watching him dominate like an ace should. Like a warm blanket.
|
KC Aug 17 2008 02:02 PM |
Quick, during the commercial post who is going to pitch the bottom of the 9th.
|
TransMonk Aug 17 2008 02:03 PM |
Santana.
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 02:03 PM |
awwww. No K.
|
KC Aug 17 2008 02:06 PM |
No one warming up in public.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 17 2008 02:06 PM |
If his arm's feeling alright, let him go back out there. Against this lineup, he probably won't even have to throw a breaking ball. Fastballs, changeups, and let's wrap this up.
|
OlerudOwned Aug 17 2008 02:08 PM |
Adding the middle name was a nice touch on the Rich Becker designation.

Taking a break from wrestling with the underground sprinklers. Looks like Johan kicked butt. Or kicked Buc, as the case may be.
|
metsguyinmichigan Aug 17 2008 02:17 PM |
Wow, Schneider's got a little power surge going.
|
Nymr83 Aug 17 2008 02:19 PM |
nice job by santana, go 9 and make sure the bullpen cant blow another win for you.
|
Zvon Aug 17 2008 02:19 PM |
That 9th inning was so quick I have no graphic ready.

Santana's game score for today's shutout is 88, the highest by a Met this season and the only game score to break 80.

Awesome game from Santana!!! We're picking up steam.

Santana looked like a stud put there today , his strike to ball ratio was sick.

I don't like the black jerseys, but if that's a part of the streak, I'll take it!

Howie Rose spoke in the radio broadcast yesterday about how he was giving Charlie Samuels crap about them wearing black -- and that Charlie promised a change back to the grays once the Mets lost a game.
