Welcome Back!!!

Who do you think is off the roster when Castillo is activated?
Evans--probably out of the question;
A. Reyes--logical, but he provides a lot of energy and J. Reyes is his buddy;
Stokes--could be, and keep your fingers crossed that they don't need a long man until September 1;
Easley to the DL--he has some aches and pains so they could say "rest up for the stretch."

I would begrudgingly send A-Rey down.

He'll be back on the 1st.

Aug 22 2008 05:17 PM

send Argenis down.

Aug 22 2008 05:23 PM

It only took half an inning for Jeter to show up. See you in the 8th.

TransMonk
Aug 22 2008 05:33 PM

Single, sac, bloop for the Mets net a run in the first.

Oswalt handled the 2 Carloses, though.

Aug 22 2008 05:34 PM

And now it's time for Andy Palaez. It's not as much fun watching Guiseppe w/o my sons.

Maybe they'll DL Sanchez to make room. Someone said it might be a pitcher, though I'd hate to get caught short with that group.

Are they waiting until Sept. 1 for Al Reyes?

an infield hit for Church, and Schneider smacks one out of the yard!

Is this the 3rd Hr Schneider hit since last week, when I wrote that he sucked?

Schneider still sucks. But nice shot.

Hey, look at the bottom of our lineup!

Schneider KABOOMs Church home.

3-0 Good guys.

Aug 22 2008 05:49 PM

That gives Wright 99 RBI -- just five behind the league leader. Didn't realize he was so close.

Schneider been taking some of Tejada's B-12 shots? Not complaining, mind you...

Lotta pitches for Johan through 3. I'd like to see some more runs scored, please.

bmfc1
Aug 22 2008 06:06 PM

2 run homer for Howard. 2-1 PHI.

TransMonk
Aug 22 2008 06:30 PM

Santana working some magic getting out of some big jams with no runs scored.

Hey O, more runs, please!

metsguyinmichigan
Aug 22 2008 06:43 PM

A stinking 10-pitch AB from Pence and he gets on with an infield single. Johan at 100 pitches already, I bet we don't see him next inning.

KC
Aug 22 2008 06:49 PM

According to the booth, that's 15 straight scoreless innings by Santana.

Nymr83
Aug 22 2008 06:50 PM

Santana 6 shutout innings, 104 pitches, 7 hits (2 doubles), 1 walk, 4 strikeouts.
I'm inclined to send him back out there for one more inning but this is a time where i'm not too annoyed if his night ends.

Anyone know why the LA/PHI game wasn't on MLB Extra Innings?

Nymr83
Aug 22 2008 06:59 PM

I like that Santana gets to face Tejada here

Nymr83
Aug 22 2008 07:01 PM

Santana gets out of it, 7 shutout innings for him looking for a much deserved win.

1-2-3 for Heilman in the eighth!

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 22 2008 07:17 PM

Heilman with a nice 8th.

I'll send him out again in the 9th. Would you?

TransMonk
Aug 22 2008 07:18 PM

I would.

AG/DC
Aug 22 2008 07:19 PM

Why not?

I'd have two guys warming, but yeah, two inning save is the way it oughta be.

AG/DC
Aug 22 2008 07:20 PM

Heilman is back under the Komiyama line.

Man, hits just don't keep comiing tonight.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Aug 22 2008 07:24 PM

Gotta like the way The Schneid's been swinging it. He was all over that first pitch from Oswalt a couple of times tonight. And Reyes really ripped that one into bad luck.

Aug 22 2008 07:24 PM

Mr. Oswalt without the swastika tatoo is looking at a rare complete game loss.

TransMonk
Aug 22 2008 07:25 PM

I can live with our offense laying an egg for 6 innings against Oswalt...especially if they lead the game.

It's when they make RA Dickey look like Cy Young that I get upset.

AG/DC
Aug 22 2008 07:25 PM

Not liking this move.

There's something to be said for getting Heilman out of there on a positive --- especially at Shea --- but I'm not liking it.

Ayala comes through with a 1-2-3 ninth inning to seal the victory.

Winning is fun.
