New York Mets
Centerfield Aug 26 2008 02:22 PM |
That's the best offensive team we can put on the field. Nice.
AG/DC Aug 26 2008 02:23 PM |
Two things I wanted to see here:
metirish Aug 26 2008 02:24 PM |
Would be great to win two here and then the Phillies go to Chicago for four.
soupcan Aug 26 2008 02:28 PM |
'Cuz each team gets 9 at home and the Phillies had that 4 game set over 4th of July I guess.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 26 2008 02:31 PM |
The next one we win vs the Phils assures we win the season series. Does that get us anything if we end in a tie or is that just the NFL?
soupcan Aug 26 2008 02:33 PM |
If the Mets and Phils tie for the division does head-to-head record determine the winner?
AG/DC Aug 26 2008 02:35 PM |
Last I checked, baseball still uses one-game playoffs.
Mendoza Line Aug 26 2008 02:38 PM |
I think head-to-head determines the division winner if the other team gets the wild card. If the other team would miss the playoffs entirely, then there's a play-in game.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2008 02:39 PM |
It's a one-game playoff only to determine playoffs or not.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 02:45 PM |
The last time Jamie Moyer pitched less than six innings against the Mets:
Zvon Aug 26 2008 05:08 PM |
Zvon Aug 26 2008 05:11 PM |
Way to start it off.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 05:19 PM |
Bases philled with Mets, one out.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 05:22 PM |
Would have liked to see more there but I'll take it.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 05:31 PM |
Martinez does not look like he has the greatest stuff tonight.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 05:39 PM |
NICE!
Zvon Aug 26 2008 05:43 PM |
EASLEY
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 05:49 PM |
Suck it, Phillies. The division is OURS.
bmfc1 Aug 26 2008 05:58 PM |
Zvon--I love the giant Met. Nice going.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 06:02 PM |
Someone get me instant replay!
Zvon Aug 26 2008 06:04 PM |
Wow. We caught a break there.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 06:04 PM |
Okay, Fernando. Caught a little break there. Make 'em pay.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 06:06 PM |
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
metirish Aug 26 2008 06:06 PM |
An at bat for the ages for Tatis , brilliant.

Zvon Aug 26 2008 06:07 PM |

bmfc1 Aug 26 2008 06:07 PM |

metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 06:08 PM |
TATIS!!!!!!!!
Zvon Aug 26 2008 06:09 PM |
Wow,off the bat I thought that was just a cheap fly to left.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 06:10 PM |
Everybody hits.
bmfc1 Aug 26 2008 06:11 PM |
It was.
holychicken Aug 26 2008 06:24 PM |
It was. It is just that cheap flies to left in CBP are homeruns.
holychicken Aug 26 2008 06:24 PM |
D'oh, should have read down before I posted that last comment.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 06:27 PM |
TRIBOOM©!!!! For Easley.
Nymr83 Aug 26 2008 06:30 PM |

The first Met in history with four 100-RBI seasons.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 06:30 PM |
Yea. I call it CBB.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 26 2008 06:33 PM |
Just tuning in and... wow.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 06:37 PM |
Ryan Howard is on pace for 213 strikeouts. That's fucking insane. I know he's hit 34 home runs, but if you're hitting .220 and striking out every third time up, that's sad.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 06:43 PM |
Wowzers. That is fantastic.
It is insane and so's the fact he leads the NL with 109 RBI. But Wrights gonna pass him down the stretch during this pennant run and snatch up the MVP award he was denied last year. Phils get on the board with a walk, hit and sac fly. 7-1 Mets.
SteveJRogers Aug 26 2008 06:45 PM |
Pretty amazing considering the lumber that can drive 'em in in droves the Mets have had through the years. Kingman, Staub, Strawberry, Carter, Foster, Piazza, etc.
metirish Aug 26 2008 06:50 PM |
Castro pulled something and is out of the game.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 06:51 PM |
Castro's kind of a candy-ass, isn't he? Buck up and play, dude.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 26 2008 06:53 PM |
You said it, brotha.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 06:54 PM |
lol. He came up lame like 3 strides before the bag. Looks like he wears kneepads under his uniform. Schneider takes over at 1st and behind the plate.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:00 PM |
Rollins is trying to win this game all by himself.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 07:04 PM |
Knew this wasn't gonna be a walk in the park.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 07:06 PM |
I hat this park. No lead is safe.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 26 2008 07:06 PM |
This is going to be a long night.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 07:07 PM |
Mets CANNOT let the Phillies comeback in this game.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 26 2008 07:07 PM |
Like I was saying.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 07:08 PM |
GAH.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:09 PM |
Uh oh.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 07:10 PM |
I really, really hat this park.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:13 PM |
Petey's rattled.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:15 PM |
Ugly, but okay. Let's get some back, fellas.
Nymr83 Aug 26 2008 07:15 PM |
pedro is melting down
OlerudOwned Aug 26 2008 07:17 PM |
I wish he was melting down. I wish it was something mental he could get over.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 07:17 PM |
Whew.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 07:20 PM |
HIT THAT DOUBLE EASLEY!
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 07:20 PM |
Jose gets it fired up again! Top of the order, we can add some.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 07:21 PM |
OR THAT!
metirish Aug 26 2008 07:22 PM |
Somewhere in Jersey Willie is smiling , and batmag is crying somewhere here...a drag bunt in that spot...wow
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 07:22 PM |
Table set. Now here come the mashers!
Rockin' Doc Aug 26 2008 07:28 PM |
I just checked in and started reading this IGT. I went from laughing in delight to practically crapping my pants when Howard went deep. We need some insurance runs here. I don't feel up to a nailbiter with our pen trying to hold on.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 07:28 PM |
Reyes on 1st, no out, 3rd baseman way deep--that was not a bad place to lay one down.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:29 PM |
You know, I wish that Wright would do something in a big spot. He's so A-Rod.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:30 PM |
Reyes with his 42nd steal.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:30 PM |
And it doesn't matter as Beltran gets hit in the shoe.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:31 PM |
Wait... what did I say last night?
Zvon Aug 26 2008 07:31 PM |
Delgado bases philled.....
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:32 PM |
Found it.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:33 PM |
Ah, fucking hell, Delgado.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 07:33 PM |
DAMN!
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 07:34 PM |
Awwwwww Carlos! that was horrible.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2008 07:39 PM |
We're gonna regret not scoring in that inning: 2 on with 3, 4, 5 coming up.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:43 PM |
SIT DOWN, Pat Burrell.
bmfc1 Aug 26 2008 07:43 PM |
Thank you Brian. You can stay.
metirish Aug 26 2008 07:44 PM |
I didn't realize Stokes threw that hard.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2008 07:44 PM |
I've really liked what Stokes has brought to the bullpen.
AG/DC Aug 26 2008 07:54 PM |
Well, I liked that at-bat, but, in general, he's been hit and miss.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 08:01 PM |
I like what Ive seen here tonight from him.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 08:03 PM |
Six outs to go, and the top of our order gets another chance.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 08:07 PM |
Kinda surprised they burned Evans like that.
Rockin' Doc Aug 26 2008 08:08 PM |
Damn, I hate burning two bats from the the bench leading off the inning.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 08:09 PM |
Good job Jose! Now he can distract the heck out of Durbin.
Rockin' Doc Aug 26 2008 08:09 PM |
This would be a great spot for Easley to get the double he needs to hit for the cycle.
AG/DC Aug 26 2008 08:12 PM |
Durbin, throw a pitch.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2008 08:14 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Aug 26 2008 08:14 PM |
Let's go David, don't blow this one or they'll start comparing you to ARod
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 08:14 PM |
And again, table set. Mashers get a chance at redemption.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 08:15 PM |
YEA JOSE!
metirish Aug 26 2008 08:15 PM |
Had a chance again there.
AG/DC Aug 26 2008 08:16 PM |
Cycles should include walks.
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:16 PM |
Wow. Another GIDP.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2008 08:17 PM |
And that's what ARod did an inning or so ago in da Bronx -- only he GiDP'd w/the sacks loaded when they were down by a few
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 08:17 PM |
Awwwwwwww DAVID!!!!! Double plays are killing our insurance opportunities.
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:17 PM |
Fielder's choice Dropped 3rd strike/wild pitch
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:18 PM |
Duaner's got the leprosy hat on. Let's see if he can drop the Phillies like so many detached appendages.
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:20 PM |
Now Gary is once again channeling my commentary for his play by play.
Rockin' Doc Aug 26 2008 08:21 PM |
Well, the strike out and run when the catcher fails to hold on to the pitch is probably a more likely way to reach than catcher interference. For the life of me, I can't think of a seventh way to reach first base safely.
metirish Aug 26 2008 08:22 PM |
Whatever about Duaner's hat he looks like a fecking construction worker pitching.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2008 08:22 PM |
Can't you just see a guy late in the game trying to get on via catcher's interference ... and then explaining in the post-game; 'Hey, I needed it for my cycle!'
Elster88 Aug 26 2008 08:24 PM |
This is exciting. I have to go to the bathroom.
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:24 PM |
Ol Sucko Suckliciano comes right in and gives up a hit.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2008 08:24 PM |
Jeezus Krist Pedro!!!!
soupcan Aug 26 2008 08:25 PM |
It was a groundball.
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:26 PM |
Five fucking outs.
Rockin' Doc Aug 26 2008 08:26 PM |
Fman99 - "Fielder's choice
Nymr83 Aug 26 2008 08:26 PM |
OMFG jimmy rollins kills us
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2008 08:26 PM |
Short men in the pen = 4 batters, 1 retired
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 26 2008 08:26 PM |
All Pedros suck.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 08:26 PM |
Oy.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 08:27 PM |
Feliciano just has nothing left. Nothing.
soupcan Aug 26 2008 08:30 PM |
Pat the Bat....
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:30 PM |
HUGE K.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 26 2008 08:31 PM |
This is all David Wright's fault.
metirish Aug 26 2008 08:33 PM |
Smith looks all jacked up , nervous like.
Elster88 Aug 26 2008 08:35 PM |
Back to the bathroom.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 26 2008 08:35 PM |
Holy crappy pants
Zvon Aug 26 2008 08:35 PM |
*mops brow
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:35 PM |
Wow. I may have pooped.
bmfc1 Aug 26 2008 08:36 PM |
How many Mets games go longer than Red Sox-MFY games?
holychicken Aug 26 2008 08:36 PM |
How do you let Rollins steal there? I mean, come on. . .you KNOW he is running this game. . .it is like they are not even trying.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2008 08:36 PM |
If we hold on to this game I'm giving all my beer to Easley, Smith and whoever gets the next three outs.
metirish Aug 26 2008 08:36 PM |
Most exciting game for a long time .

AG/DC Aug 26 2008 08:37 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Aug 26 2008 08:38 PM |

They were more worried about the runner on thoid.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 08:38 PM |
Ruiz playing 3rd?
metirish Aug 26 2008 08:38 PM |
Lidge in to pitch .
Elster88 Aug 26 2008 08:38 PM |
Shirley the go-ahead run should be a concern too.
AG/DC Aug 26 2008 08:39 PM |
It was, but the lesser concern, especially (says the Book) on the road.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 26 2008 08:39 PM |
Save a bottle for Stokes.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 08:39 PM |
OK, so who do you give the ball to in the ninth? Ayala?
Elster88 Aug 26 2008 08:40 PM |
Tatis!
AG/DC Aug 26 2008 08:40 PM |
Catcher playing third. Test that guy right away with a bunt, Carloses.
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:41 PM |
I'd be shocked if AlReyes doesn't get an August call up so that he could theoretically pitch in October. Not that I know who gets moved in the roster shuffle...
Rockin' Doc Aug 26 2008 08:41 PM |
Knot - "If we hold on to this game I'm giving all my beer to Easley, Smith and whoever gets the next three outs.
Zvon Aug 26 2008 08:42 PM |
Delgado totally fooled.
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:42 PM |
Ayala to pitch the 9th according to the booth.
Elster88 Aug 26 2008 08:42 PM |
Still building the arm maybe. Possibly already a crowded bullpen too. I never remember how the postseason rules work, what are the requirements for being allowed on the postseason roster?
Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:43 PM |
Without Wagner we don't have anyone doing anything remotely related to what Lidge just did to those hitters.
Elster88 Aug 26 2008 08:43 PM |
Would you rather have a healthy Wagner or Ayala going right now (or someone else)? Wagner had a rough trip to Philly about this time last year.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 08:45 PM |
It would be a gamble, but I just don't think Sanchez or Feliciano can contribute much any more.
metirish Aug 26 2008 08:45 PM |
Lights Out Luis all the way....
Rockin' Doc Aug 26 2008 08:46 PM |
Billy has his rough patches, but he has the most wicked stuff in the Mets pen. I hope he can come back soon. Meanwhile, go get 'em Ayala. You da man.
soupcan Aug 26 2008 08:48 PM |
Breathe...

Elster88 Aug 26 2008 08:48 PM |

Playoff Rosters: Playoff rosters must be set at 25, not including disabled players, on August 31. For each player on the 60-day DL, teams may add players to the eligible list during the playoffs at the same position, provided that they were in the orginization on August 31… Teams must choose 25 players from their playoff eligible list before each round of the playoffs. so since everyone has some players on the 60-day DL there are always going to be extra choices come october 1st.

Fman99 Aug 26 2008 08:56 PM |
Eh. Madson.

Frayed Knot Aug 26 2008 08:57 PM |

We ran out of bullpen sometime in May. Now the 10th will be the bottom of our lineup vs the top of theirs.
holychicken Aug 26 2008 08:57 PM |
I don't get it. How can they be so bad? It makes no sense. It is like a terrible nightmare.

heilman gets through it but he's probably thrown 50 pitches in 2 innings here, and schoenweis is the only one left out there. this has been my only complaint about Manuel so far, he uses the relievers for a batter or two at a time which can leave him short-handed in extras.

Fuck the Mets. Worst game of the year.

TransMonk Aug 26 2008 10:26 PM |
This game was 7-0, right?

Yes, 7 should be more than 8.

Centerfield Aug 26 2008 10:26 PM |

Yup.

so if we scored 15 and the other guys got 16 thats the offense's fault too? maybe there shouldnt be pitchers in baseball just pitching machines, then you could blame the offense for everything

metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2008 10:27 PM |
Horrible. Johan's gotta go nine tomorrow.
TransMonk Aug 26 2008 10:28 PM |
Fuck that. Johan's just gotta hold a lead tomorrow.

Oh I get it...so the offense should score at least 9 per game or else it's their fault. Thanks for clearing that up.

No problem. Just remember: 9 is more than 8, but 8 is more than 7. It's hard to keep straight and all, I know.

Do you really not understand the point I'm trying to make? It's not that complicated.

“You’ll be shocked by how much it never happened.”--"Don Draper", "Mad Men", 08/24/08. That's my feeling about last night. Onto tonight.

Last night was the first time in a long time the Mets made me so angry I couldn't sleep.
Benjamin Grimm Aug 27 2008 11:19 AM |
Actually, no. Exhaustion from jet lag may have helped, though.

People from last night's game who I dreamt of choking after I finally went to sleep.
