Bullet dodged

Tom Glavine goes back on the DL, probably ending his season, probably ending his career.

Mets took a lot of flack from the wags for letting Tommy run home, butlooks like they lost nothing.

I really don't know why anybody thought Tom Glavine was worth more than two draft picks (a first and a sandwich). Including the Braves. And now they won't even get the draft picks back when we sign Teixeira...

I really wanted the chance to go see him pitch against the Mets in Atlanta.

And yell a lot.

I don't think they took that much flack at all from the press. Yeah, Wagner opened his mouth wide, but I'm sure it shut the minute he heard the name Santana.

Fact is, Glavine walked away from a crazy lot of money ($13 million?) in an automatically vesting option. What were the Mets supposed to do? Offer 15? Not doing so was the right choice and clearly so.

I begrudge him nothing but his first game and his last game as a Met - and I refuse to blame him for the '07 collapse. Any one win in September would have saved our asses, and it was primarily the bullpen's fault. He was integral to the thrilling run of '06. Give him some damn credit.

Must have been the National media mgim, because here most of the media had the same reaction that fans did. Good riddance!

Though that was probably fueled by Game 162, Glavine's reaction to said performance, and where he wound up.

It would really be a shame if his career ended that way.

I hope doctors deem him healthy enough to make one last start against the Mets so he can get knocked out before recording an out.

I don't have ill-will toward Glavine, though that last game was horrible.

But I'm just glad we don't have him this year.
