Memories of Anderson Hernandez

Great at catching flares over his shoulder. Got the wind knocked out of him on one.

Started his Met career, I think, with an Alomarian 0-19.

That catch.

Had far too many nicknames than his production warranted.

The last baserunner of 2006, pinch-running for Lo Duca in the bottom of the ninth of Game Seven.

I thought he'd be better and maybe work out. I liked Jorge Toca too so
I'm not going to quit my day job any time soon.

Also he seemed to join the ranks of "biggest partiers despite the least amount contributing to making said party" during the East Clinching clubhouse celebration.

Had his first (and only?) major league homer on the day after the Mets clinched in '06. Was the leadoff batter in the all-scrub lineup that day.

Mets you may forget were on the opening day roster of a 97-win team (in '06):

Anderson Hernandez
Victor Zambrano
Victor Diaz
Jorge Julio

I can only think of how long it took the poor guy to get his first major league hit.

Yep. That one that sent him to the DL. That's all I got.
