No, not the rotisserie kind of fantasy, but the Basball Prospectus annual version of thier projection of the best players over the next five years.

Wishful thinking, but McCann doesn't strike me as a long-term producer at the level he's at.

what about him makes you think so? i see nothing in his numbers that tells me he won't remain a top 5 hitting catcher for the next 5 years

After scanning through the first set of rankings it's Curtis Granderson at #16 that is a surprise to me. His ranking seems awfully high to me. Maybe I just don't fully appreciate his abilities.

Just how I'm struck, but also how catchers lose value in general at a younger age. And, as I said, wishful thinking. I say he's Lance Parrish.

Think of Granderson as the OFer version of Reyes: good BA (walks more often) plus lots of 2Bs & 3Bs with medium HR power all packaged with a good glove at a premium defensive position. He's 2-1/2 years older and wasn't as good as early and so is more likely to already be at or near his peak, but the skills are pretty similar and so is the 'fun factor' watching him.
