I agree, but no offense meant to this charming little girl, I'm sure.

I'd beg to differ. Some of them are used to cute effect (see Fgirl below).

A cloth band that pulls actual hair back on a toddler and a frilly giftwrap band on a baldy infant are two differmint things.

Ah, but the difference is the Fgirl (whom I remember admiring before) has beautiful brown curls, and a headband sets them off to a tee.

Kind of a "I've got wild wild hair, boys, and I've got to move it out of my way!" attitude.

No, I'm talking about bald babies, not older babies that actually deserve one :)

Well thanks for the kinds words Coob. I'd agree on all counts.

Mothers feel the need to do this so strangers will be able to identify their Charlie-Brown-esque infant/toddler as a girl. Stupid-looking.

My daughter wore one to a friend's wedding. She never wore it before or after but it looked pretty cute there so I have to vote "cute."

If I could vote "stupid looking" twice, I would. Awful, awful.

on a nearly hairless baby - stupid looking. if you're concerned about the gender-identity of your hairless baby, i would suggest that the better strategy for declaring the sex of your offspring would be to cover him or her in gender appropriate colorings, patterns, and images, as opposed to adorning the adorable thing with useless decorations.

I have never been a fan of the Slick Watts look on infants. I wasn't much of a fan of it for Watts either, but at least it served a purpose in his case.
