I voted cute but was thinking about them in my hood where they mark old brtick warehouse-y buildings (looks on net for photo)... like this (note the pencils on either side, it was a pencil factory at one time) & this:

Is there a purpose or significance to a star on a barn? Does it designate being part of the in-crowd like it did with the Sneeches? Do star people congregate with non-star people? Is inter-marrying permitted? Do others counter with triangles, trapezoids, and rhombuses (rhombi?) as a way of identifying with their clan?

y'know, every time i see them, i think 'those'd be kinda cool if only they weren't so damned cliche' i'm not sure where that puts them on my cute / stupid looking scale in that case. generally, cliche means stupid looking i would think. so i'll vote as such. i mean, they're a very martha thing right now it seems, but too often they are surrounded by too much other faux rusticness, which all serves to pull tehm squarely into the cliche.

I don't recall ever seeing a "barn star", but the example cooby posted does look pretty stupid.

I'm moving down south, to escape them. They're used not so much on barns around here as on houses. Really stupid looking houses.

Barn stars on your house aren't so tasteful, but defintely more so than hsaving porn stars on your house.
