They're fine if you're at the beach or in a tropical locale. Otherwise, bad. I voted "cute" only because they are sometimes the right thing to wear.

My grandson just got a Hawaiian shirt for his birthday, and he hasn't taken it off yet. On him it looks great.

who buttons a hawaiian shirt all the way up? that's just stupid. i like my hawaiian shirts, but generally they seem to be an excuse for fat old men to let their bright white chest hair see the light of day peeking over the top of obnoxiously loud and unflattering patterns and colors. again, like capris, while hawaiian shirts are cute whenm i wear them, in their general application, they are not cute, and so goes my vote.

Like real estate, it's all about location, location, location. I agree with sharpie, in the proper locale, some hawaiian shirts look fine.
