I'm carless. My baby owns a manual (in fact, never drove anything but), but she doesn't trust me with it.

In the country on the open road or in a sports car, I prefer a manual. In stop and go city traffic, I prefer the ease of an automatic.

Every car that I have ever owned has been a manual transmission. Every car that my wife has owned has been an automatic transmission. We're a mixed marriage.

I learned on a stick, but prefer (and drive) automatic.

Some people actually enjoy driving around, and so the shifting and the clutch business is all part of their enjoyment. But i don't enjoy going places... i prefer being places. So all i ask is that my journey not be any more difficult than it has to be.

Its the same reason i don't enjoy camping out. If we, as a society, have advanced to the point where we can sleep in a comforable, dry climate-controlled, bug-free environment (or drive without having to shift), i don't see the need in being asked to sleep outdoors or shift gears.

but your mileage may vary (and certainly will, if you drive with the more fuel-efficient standard transmission)

I prefer to drive manual. We have an automatic (wife doesn't drive manual) and have since we've been married.

Every once in a while I still fish for a clutch.

I've always owned manuals, except for my current car, but that's been more or less coincidence. I think it's ridiculous to prefer manual.
