Umenyiora out for the season. Strahan will not return. Kiwanuka back to the line.

I think the D has lost too much this offseason for them to repeat. The line should be pretty good again, but moving Kiwanuka back weakens the team at linebacker. I think they still make the playoffs, but there's an awful lot of talent they need to replace.

I guess the job hasn't gotten any easier for proofreaders and sportscasters.

Giants playing ok. Let's face it the Redskins are awful. No offense whatsoever thanks to the QB.

Jason Kendall just head-butted a guy who had lost his helmet.

Eli still making plenty of ill-advised passes. How he got through 4 playoff games without dropping a stinker, I'll never know.

the Giants could have really run away tonight but instead played down to really bad opponent once they had a lead.

Not impressed at all with Jim Zorn's play calling or game management.

Love Al Michaels. With 7 seconds left before the last play of the game (paraphrasing a tiny bit): "The game is over but some of our friends are still VERY interested."

Went last night and all I can say is that Giants Stadium is no place for children.

I personally witnessed more than just a few instances of pot-smoking, coke-snorting and overly drunken people shouting - shouting - obscenities from the time I got there until I left.

People wearing shirts that read 'FUCK NEW ENGLAND'. 'T.O is a HOMO' on the front 'AND SO IS ROMO' on the back.

Yeah I know you see some of the same shit at any profeesional sporting event but at Giants games it always so much more prevalent.

It's disappointing and there's really no reason it should be witnessed by people who just want to see the game or tolerated by the Meadowlands or the Giants administration.

If I were a season ticket holder I'd be firing off letters right and left today.

Eh.

It's not my battle, let 'em all kill each other in the parking lot.

Am I crazy or am I old or is football culture just sinking every year?

Football night games are especially bad. People have all day to liquor up before the big event.

Every time I hear the economy is in the tank, I believe it, then I think of all the yucks who can afford to creep along parkways in SUVS one-per-customer, to pile into football stadia a several hundred dollars a pop with illicit drugs on the side, decked out in triple-digit-costing jerseys of the felonious superstar receiver who'll be gone next season anyhow, only to puke and have to head to the exits by the end of the third quarter.

And they absoulutely hate them rival teams, even though the rosters are as ephemeral as dandelion spores. As a soap bubble.

Who are these people and how do I get my hands on their money? Millions every weekend. And that's just the NFL. NCAA brings another story.

If you're a Phil Mushnick reader Soup (and I know you are) you should be aware that the NFL has no intention of getting rid of the drunken louts since they consider them to be their best cu$tomers.

Well, if you're going to run your business like a titty bar, at least the Cowboys are honest enough to build their stadium to look like one.

Exactly what I was thinking yesterday.

When I go, I go with my friend and his dad and his dad's friend. My friend and I are mid-40's, the dad and his friend are late-60's. They have had season tickets to the Giants for over 30 years, they've been tailgating in the same section of the parking lot before every game since the Meadowlands opened.

I've been going with these same three guys to maybe 1 or 2 games a year for the last 20 some odd years and following the same pre-game routine with them. they bring food, cook it up, etc., etc.

I've seen the people around them just completely de-volve over that course of time from being fun-loving football fans enjoying the day to head-banging heavy metal music blasting, alcoholic, tattoo-covered, profanity spewing, drug abusing scum.

I'm embarassed that the two older guys have to see it and I know that they can't tolerate the noise. I don't know why they just don't park somewhere else because I can see how it pains them to have to deal with it. I think they think that as long as they stay in that section of the parking lot its still the same old fun-loving crew. It's not, but whatever.

Regarding the money that these monkeys lay out - Giants football is so obviously their entire life. They act as if they think they are part of the team so as a result they will spend whatever they need to to continue this part of their lifestyle. I heard one guy saying he was going to take a second mortgage to pay for his PSLs. incredible. That's how they afford it - debt, debt, debt.

Now I'm as a big a Met fan as anyone and I'm wedded to my team in much the same way as these Giants fans, but the difference is that the Mets are not my life. My Mets season tickets spiked considerably for next year and I still bought them. However if it turns out that it becomes something that I just cannot do without sacrificing other much more important things in my life (like not being able to make my mortgage payments for instance) then I'll walk away and have no problem doing it.

Yeah, I know. Someone I know likes to use the term 'pigs get slaughtered' when referring to those who are concerned only with money. With all of the shit going on in the parking lot and the stadium I really think its just a matter of time before something really bad happens to somebody and a team or a municipality gets forced into doing something.
