IGT 6/5, Game 2 - Please Sir, May I Have Another?

Scoreless after one inning.

Game 2 - Please Sir, May I Have Another?

It's time for a little payback.

I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.

seawolf17
Jun 05 2005 08:35 PM

I think this situation calls for the bats to wake up and whack Jason Schmidt and a bevy of relievers around and win 13-2.

No - Norrin cannot stand in front of the game naked....

Jun 05 2005 08:39 PM

And THAT, Mr. Randolph, is why you don't double switch David Wright out of the game EVER EVER EVER.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 08:41 PM

Beautiful homer by Mr. Wright. Gotta love that boy.

Rockin' Doc
Jun 05 2005 08:41 PM

Mr. Wright goes

seawolf17
Jun 05 2005 08:42 PM

And Dougie is oooooooooooooooh so close to a home run of his own. He needs a Fonzie-style 6-for-6 game in the worst way.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 08:43 PM

So close, yet so far. The little guy and I thought that Minty had that one.

VD pops up for out number 2.

Nice at bat by Minky. He fouled off several pitches before finally flying out to Alou in deep right.

TheOldMole
Jun 05 2005 08:45 PM

A home run is a good thing, but I wouldn't want to restrict any manager to not ever ever ever on anything.

Classic.

Yes, that was a recruitment commercial for the Brentwood Fire Department on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN. Bizarre.

I am honored to have posted the first KABOOM in CPF2 history.

Mets 2 Giants 0 after 2 complete.

seawolf17 - " I am honored to have posted the first KABOOM in CPF2 history."

Done in by my poor typing skills once again. I hope it is the first of many Kabooms on the new forum.

Benson leads off the third with a double.

Rockin' Doc
Jun 05 2005 09:03 PM

Reyes with another great at bat by the Mets. Mets at the corners with none out in the third.

Bust this thing open boys.

Elster88
Jun 05 2005 09:04 PM

Joe Morgan went on and on about how power in the Japanese Leagues doesn't translate to the major leagues. This may be true, but the genius' main whipping boy was Kaz. He said that Kaz was a power hitter in the Japanese Leagues, right as they posted a graphic showing that he hit 150 home runs in nine seasons.

Myself, I didn't realize that 16 and 2/3 home runs a year makes a power hitter.

I don't like Joe Morgan.

Jose steals second, and Kaz flies out to the warning track to knock in Benson and move Reyes to third.

One out, 3-0 Mets.

Elster88
Jun 05 2005 09:06 PM

Sac fly for Beltran to knock in Reyes.

Rockin' Doc
Jun 05 2005 09:07 PM

Beltran hits a sac fly to score Reyes.

4-0 good guys.

Johnny Dickshot
Jun 05 2005 09:09 PM

I like the moving camera along the 3rd base line.

Really nice job by Reyes there, getting a million pitches, then an infield hit, then two bases and a run on fly balls. And nice "producitve outs" by Beltran and Matsui.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:13 PM

Nice throw by Mr. Wright - we wuz robbed!

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:18 PM

Damn! We wuz robbed twice in one inning! This suxx.

Runners on first and second, none out.

Nymr83
Jun 05 2005 09:22 PM

Nice sacrifice work by 3 straight batters (Reyes beat out the bunt) to get 2 runs home!

and what a throw by Castro!! I'm starting to really like this guy.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:22 PM

The runner on first is picked off, then we finally get a call at first, but a bloop hit makes it 4-1 before the inning ends on a fly to center.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:23 PM

I see that the new home doesn't have a Sacred Seaver Post yet. Just as welll - I forgot about it until I saw the number 41.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:27 PM

How big is that chaw in Minty's cheek? Eek!

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:28 PM

Mr. Wright steals second after singling to start the bottom of the fourth.

Minty walks.

Two on, one out.

ESPN gives us a football update. WTF?

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:30 PM

VD Ks :(

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:33 PM

Castro walks. The bases are loaded for Benson.

Rockin' Doc
Jun 05 2005 09:36 PM

Castro walked, so it really didn't matter, but I like Willie sending the runners there.

Kenson with a chance to knock his counterpart out of the game.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:38 PM

Benson walks to get an RBI. The bases are still loaded for Reyes!

Rockin' Doc
Jun 05 2005 09:39 PM

Benson draws a bases loaded walk.

The Mets are one big hit from busting this game wide open. Reyes coming to the plate with the sacks drunk with Mets.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:40 PM

Reyes grounds out, but Minty scores on the play. 2 out.

Rockin' Doc
Jun 05 2005 09:41 PM

"Productive outs" are the order of the day.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 09:42 PM

KazMat ends the inning on a weak grounder. The Boo Birds are in the house tonight.

6-1 Mets after four.

The Fanta commercials are totally stupid.

Rockin' Doc
Jun 05 2005 09:46 PM

The Mets hitters have really been making Schmidt work tonight. He's thrown 98 pitches in 4 innings. Patience has it's rewards.

Mets 6 Giants 1 after 4 innings.

Willets Point

ScarletKnight41

Meanwhile, Benson has a quick top of the 5th. 6-1 good guys!

Jon Miller pointed out that Willie is the only rookie manager in the big leagues this season.

He then went on to say that the last time the Mets had a rookie manager was Joe Torre in 1977!

Completely overlooked Davey Johnson and Bud Harrelson.

I actually, for some reason, expected him to overlook Harrelson. As Miller was speaking, I was waiting for him to incorrectly say Davey Johnson. He fooled me.

Or will Willie give Fubar some work? What about Looper-- he needs some work, right?

YES!
We decided last year that a situation like this counts as TH.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 10:48 PM

I don't think we can call it Triple Happiness after the suckitude in game 1.

I think we should settle for the fact that it's been an overall good day.

Elster88
Jun 05 2005 10:49 PM

Ooooh, good point. Can someone give a ruling on this?

Diamond Dad
Jun 05 2005 10:50 PM
Asterisk

If they win the last game of the day, then it's triple happiness with an asterisk. If I get to fly the flag tomorrow, then the Mets won.

Swan Swan H

Can we start calling him 'Everyday' Aaron Heilman?

Diamond Dad
Jun 05 2005 10:54 PM

Ring is warming up in the pen. This is perfect time to get him some work.

Fred Flintsone is on call in case he messes up.

Reyes hasn't popped the ball this well from the left side in a while.

Good thread.

Good game.

]Myself, I didn't realize that 16 and 2/3 home runs a year makes a power hitter.

Your point is understood, as well as your greater point that Joe Morgan says things before thinking. But, in his defense, the Japan league has shorter seasons and 16 2/3 is more like 19 1/2.

Not that I expect Morgan knew that.

]Well, I can't remember seeing Mikey do that at first base.

What was that?

Manny Aybar pitched in game one. "Fubar" is kind of cheap shot. The guy hasn't lost any games and, while a 4.44 ERA won't knock my sox off, for the last guy out of the bullpen, I'll take it.

Didn't somebody call for a 13-2 game? We came close.

ScarletKnight41
Jun 05 2005 11:09 PM

And it's over. 12-1 is your final!

Edgy - I disagree with you. Norrin dubbed Manny Fubar on Opening Day, and it's stuck.

Elster88
Jun 05 2005 11:10 PM

]But, in his defense, the Japan league has shorter seasons and 16 2/3 is more like 19 1/2.
I didn't realize this either. Also, I imagine that Matsui had one or two years when he first started where he got less at bats, bringing his yearly average down.

I still don't like Morgan though.

Mets win!

Loopy goes 1-2-3 and the Mets split the double header and win the series!

Their third series in a row--good stuff. A well-deserved day off, then on to a Clemens-less Houston!

LGM!

Rockin' Doc
Jun 05 2005 11:20 PM

seawolf almost called it in the second inning, when he said a 13-2 laugher was in order.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty damn happy. Maybe even three times over.

Swan Swan H
Jun 05 2005 11:22 PM

Anderson just plain dropped a throw at first. He was suitably embarassed, but considering the score was 10-1, it was merely worth a chuckle.
