Wright still buried in the lineup. Great play by Matsui to open. Ralph sounds wasted.

abogdan Jun 07 2005 07:23 PM |
Who let Roberto Alomar into the building?
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 07:25 PM |
Matsui adjusts nicely going to his right on a grounder that skimmed off the lip of the grass in the first, then Anderson picked the throw on a long hop.

Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 07:38 PM |
With two outs Kaz takes a two-strike pitch through the hole past short to clear Pedro.
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 07:45 PM |
Nine consecutive Astros have experienced futility in facing Pedro thus far.

holychicken Jun 07 2005 07:49 PM |
Reyes with a leadoff single to start the 3rd

holychicken Jun 07 2005 07:51 PM |
and promptly gets picked off/caught stealing. . . or got screwed by a missed hit and run. . . and then cameron Ks. . . great
seawolf17 Jun 07 2005 07:53 PM |
Fran Healy just said that defense was Brad Ausmus's "fort." Not "forte," mind you, but his "fort." I guess a fort is for defense, but Fran Healy is a moron.
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 07:56 PM |
I wonder if F.X. Healy is aware of the board moving. His insightful comments on cahn-fidence, nervous systems, and preparatory hitches would be sorely missed were he to disappear.
holychicken Jun 07 2005 07:58 PM |
Beautiful 6-4-3 double play
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 08:17 PM |
Only baserunner for the Astros so far came on a walk, and was erased on a DP. 1-0 Mets, middle 5.
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 08:21 PM |
Pedro leads off the fifth with a clean single to center.
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 08:26 PM |
The 'Stros blow a sure DP when no one covers second on Reyes' hard chop to third. Cameron and Beltran follow with singles, and it's 2-0.
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 08:37 PM |
Three more Astros retired. Eighteen have batted through six.
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 08:40 PM |
Matsui with another two-out single, this one of the infield variety, to clear Pedro once again.

Batty31 Jun 07 2005 08:45 PM |
There goes the no no. 'sigh'
holychicken Jun 07 2005 08:45 PM |
D'oh. . . my fault, I thought bad thoughts. . . home run by burke :(
holychicken Jun 07 2005 08:47 PM |
10 hits 2 runs
Spacemans Bong Jun 07 2005 08:47 PM |
I blame Kiner. He kept calling it a no-hitter through 6.
seawolf17 Jun 07 2005 08:48 PM |
I blame Healy. He started talking about it at the end of the sixth.
soupcan Jun 07 2005 08:49 PM |
Stop apologizing - it was my brother-in-law's fault.
ABG Jun 07 2005 08:51 PM |
My friend just told me he took off his socks just before Burke's at bat, so we can call blame him.
soupcan Jun 07 2005 08:53 PM |
Why can't people just sit perfectly still and not move at all when these things are unfolding?!
holychicken Jun 07 2005 08:54 PM |
I blame everyone except pedro.
soupcan Jun 07 2005 08:55 PM |
Reyes 4-3.
holychicken Jun 07 2005 08:56 PM |
Doesn't beltran realize that he is supposed to homer tonight?
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 08:58 PM |
It's on!!!
seawolf17 Jun 07 2005 08:58 PM |
That was the worst baseball fight ever.
Spacemans Bong Jun 07 2005 08:58 PM |
This is where Wright just kills one.
seawolf17 Jun 07 2005 08:59 PM |
The fight overshadowed this comment from Ralph:
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 08:59 PM |
Was there a warning? If not, Pedro gets a chance to become a candidate for Mayor.
holychicken Jun 07 2005 09:00 PM |
If that fight had happened, what would john franco do? Would he fight the mets?
ABG Jun 07 2005 09:01 PM |
can someone provide a quick summation of the events for those who simply saw "On Field Delay" listed on Gamecast?
seawolf17 Jun 07 2005 09:02 PM |
And now Oswalt comes a little too close to Piazza.
seawolf17 Jun 07 2005 09:02 PM |
Oswalt hit Floyd in the elbow; the benches cleared reeeeeeeeeeeally slowly, and that was that. The bullpens didn't even reach the infield dirt before turning around and heading back.
soupcan Jun 07 2005 09:03 PM |
Piazza walks.
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 09:04 PM |
Beltran singles, takes second on a WP/PB (WW), then Oswalt nails Floyd in lieu of an IBB. Finger pointing, but little else, ensues.
soupcan Jun 07 2005 09:05 PM |
Marlon pokes one past third, one comes in 3-1 Mets bases still full.

Pedro coming out for the 9th? Almost 100 pitches? I guess. . .

Iubitul Jun 07 2005 09:26 PM |
Pedro strikes out the side in the ninth.
holychicken Jun 07 2005 09:29 PM |
See? Obviously I guessed right :)
Elster88 Jun 07 2005 09:34 PM |
On the post game interview, Pedro said he didn't know he had a no-hitter going. I don't buy that one. If he didn't know then he's not paying enough attention, which can't be so.
Elster88 Jun 07 2005 09:36 PM |
Give me a break. With the Mets' history, the announcers are usually calling them no hitters after the first.
Edgy DC Jun 07 2005 09:36 PM |
I'm voting for Pedro.
Elster88 Jun 07 2005 09:38 PM |
I would've rather Pedro not pitched the ninth. Every inning he doesn't pitch now is one he can pitch in September.
Iubitul Jun 07 2005 09:40 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 07 2005 09:41 PM |
I believe it. You get so focused on making each pitch, it's definitely possible.
Elster88 Jun 07 2005 09:41 PM |
I still don't believe it.
metirish Jun 07 2005 09:49 PM |
great game, great IGT...great Pedro, striking out the side is a Pedro signature to end a game, used to be anyway..amazing.
Swan Swan H Jun 07 2005 09:53 PM |
No way I take Pedro out. He was just under 100 pitches when the ninth started. But, that's not the real reason.

Pedro was something.
metirish Jun 07 2005 10:17 PM |
Floyd is still very hot on the post-game, "I knew it was coming, Garner told him to hit me, every dog has it's day"...and so it went, payback is coming, at least Floyd thinks so anyway...
Frayed Knot Jun 07 2005 10:33 PM |
The TV guys were talking about an incident from last year between Oswalt & Cliff -- which I don't remember a thing about.
metirish Jun 07 2005 10:36 PM |
yeah , last season Floyd hit a Grand Slam in Houston off Oswalt, next series when they faced each other Oswalt hit Floyd.
Edgy DC Jun 07 2005 10:59 PM |
Every inning he doesn't pitch now is one he can pitch in September.

Take Pedro out and we miss this, pure joy..
Willets Point Jun 07 2005 11:10 PM |
This makes up for my kickball team being swept in a doubleheader tonight.
metirish Jun 07 2005 11:12 PM |
the SoSH had an IGT about the Mets game tonight...great read ..

With yesterday's win, the New York Mets are the 2005 NL Wild Card Leaders. (tied with Atlanta)

End the season NOW!!!!

soupcan Jun 08 2005 08:58 AM |
Did everyone miss lubitol saying he bowled a 300? In match play?
Elster88 Jun 08 2005 08:59 AM |
seawolf17 Jun 08 2005 09:05 AM |
We did all kind of just skip over that thought. Very cool, lub. We saw a guy bowl a 299 once, a couple of lanes down from us: from then on forward, any time anyone left one pin standing, we called it a "Larry" in honor of that guy.
Johnny Dickshot Jun 08 2005 09:06 AM |
Really?
soupcan Jun 08 2005 09:13 AM |
Goddamn - those SOSHers are still fixated on the man.
Iubitul Jun 08 2005 09:16 AM |
Yes - first of 3. The funny thing is that since I was in match play, I didn't have time to get nervous, so bowling in that kind of a match helped. Before that I had gotten to the last ball 3 times for a 297 and a pair of 299's ( I got screwed on both of them)
cooby Jun 08 2005 09:19 AM |
lubitol, what DOES your name mean?
Iubitul Jun 08 2005 09:23 AM |
It's Iubitul - and I'll just say that it's not an English word.
cooby Jun 08 2005 09:23 AM |
Ok, I'll just use my imagination then...
Edgy DC Jun 08 2005 09:49 AM |
There's a legendary Russian camera called a lubitel.
metirish Jun 08 2005 09:51 AM |
You can watch all 12 Pedro K's on Mets.com, it's the MSG feed.
Rotblatt Jun 08 2005 10:45 AM |
Petey makes me happy. When he struck out the side in the ninth, I was grinning ear to ear.

From the SoSH board:
1920. I'd start a thread gushing about Pedro's performance so far, but I'm too superstitious.
Elster88 Jun 08 2005 11:29 AM |
In the post-game and during the game, they said that the pen lost three of Pedro's leads this year. I remember Opening Day of course, and I thought I remembered one more, but I didn't think there was a third.
Edgy DC Jun 08 2005 12:02 PM |
Anybody still working from the perspective that Pedro Martinez doesn't like pitching to Mike Piazza to the point of insisting on Ramon Castro?
Batty31 Jun 08 2005 12:45 PM |
Funny you should say that, as I was just thinking about that last night. Haven't heard a whisper about that as of late.
seawolf17 Jun 08 2005 12:57 PM |
I wasn't sure where to stick this, but:
Centerfield Jun 08 2005 12:58 PM |
We were four games over .500 in 2002?
Rotblatt Jun 08 2005 01:02 PM |
Yeah, who knew.
sharpie Jun 08 2005 01:08 PM |
Was that the year we went 0-for-August at home or was it one of the other recent terrible years?
86-Dreamer Jun 08 2005 01:08 PM |
Hopefully they won't lose their next 13 home games like they did in August 2002! Rough month that August of 2002
ScarletKnight41 Jun 08 2005 01:15 PM |
They won for us during our game in Milwaukee on August 8, then went south immediately thereafter.
Iubitul Jun 08 2005 01:26 PM |
ok - so we now know that SK can no longer go to Mets games in Milwaukee in August.
ScarletKnight41 Jun 08 2005 01:27 PM |
No, it means that I should travel with them the whole month, not just on my son's birthday :p
Centerfield Jun 08 2005 01:29 PM |
That's right. That was the time Benitez ruined our season by blowing the save in the first game of a doubleheader against the DBacks causing us to go into a tailspin for the rest of the month. I remember thinking it was irresponsible of Benitez to pick that game to blow a save. I hope Looper won't repeat that mistake.
soupcan Jun 08 2005 01:48 PM |
That surprises me (the 4 games over thing).
seawolf17 Jun 08 2005 01:58 PM |
The best they got in 2004 was three over, a couple of times.
Elster88 Jun 08 2005 04:16 PM |
Didn't we open 2002 at 16-11 and first place in the East? I thought that after that the team went straight to the toilet. I didn't realize they were four over as late as July 31.
