Who Am I?

ScarletKnight41
Jun 04 2005 01:14 PM

I thought I'd start this thread for those of us posting under new screen names in our new cyberhome.

I had chosen Inside Pitcher when I was still writing for New York Mets Inside Pitch magazine. When that gig ended, the name didn't fit as well, but I didn't feel like starting from scratch again so I held onto the handle.

Since we're starting from scratch anyway here, I thought I'd come up with something new. I didn't want to be defined as anyone's mom anymore, but I wanted something that said something about me.

Then it dawned on me that I should do something to honor the fact that I'm returning to school. Freakin' Rutgers got some serious consideration, and I'm sure it would have gotten a few laughs. But ultimately, I went with ScarletKnight41 - Scarlet Knight to honor Freakin' Rutgers' mascot, and 41 to honor the greatest player to ever wear the Mets uniform.

I used to be JonathanArcher - since Enterprise is dead, I figured I would change.

I'm still me. I suppose I could try to come up with something else, but it's much easier to just be who you be.

Aha! It's much easier to change your username on this forum!

Now I'm "seawolf17." We'll see how that sticks for a bit.

Seawolf17 it is; a tribute to my old ez past, a nod to the future. I dig it.

SInce I ignorantly began posting as gf212121, which is the name I use to sign onto these sorts of things, and not knowing that I could choose a more personalized name, I got stuck with a dumb one. Now I know enough to choose my own dumb name.

It is, of course, the title of one of my favorite R.E.M. songs, and my sig is a line from that song.

Same name, new avatar. But how come everyone else gets bigger avatars? I followed the rules.

vtmet here...it's easier for me to keep the same name...I used have more names, but my brain hurts a lot easier now that I'm 40 so...I don't want to confuse myself...

Who am I?

I go away for a long weekend and everyone runs off and leaves me. I'm glad you at least left a forwarding address.

I hate starting over again after almost making it halfway to the promised land of Seaver designation. Hopefully, I won't be monstrously huge for too long.

It's nice to have my original handle again. Though I must admit, I'll miss the ladies calling me "hottie".

Thanks KC...

I appreciate you resizing my avatar to a more reasonable size. I would however, like to make a request that it be slightly larger. Say on the order of 100x100 (or 125x125) size so that the writing is more legible.

I'm sure your busy with the new site so I understand if you tell me to get a life, but I thought I'd at least ask.

Same here. I use ejflor automatically everywhere, but here have changed to my favorite all time Met, with a tribute to his streak. I thought about doing something to do with a Guns N' Roses song, and frankly there's still time. But this is a baseball forum, so I went with a baseball name.

Just a suggestion, and not a very good one, and easy for me since I don't have to do it. How about, for a while, everyone who's done a name change put their old name on their signature line?

ScarletKnight41
Jun 06 2005 09:01 AM

That works for some of us better than others. For the moment, I'll go back to a really old one until I think of something better.

Nothing major.
On the old site, I was Mets Fan Since 1962.
But the site kept forgetting my cookies and forcing me to sign in every couple of days. (Sometimes even when I had been on the site earlier in the day)
So I'll be using the abbreviation - less to type if the same thing happens here.

Yes. See my message earlier in the thread. Maybe I should've kept the avatar.....

Edgy DC
Jun 08 2005 03:02 PM

I'm not seeing any sign of Gary Cohen, Jr.

So far, the race to Seaverdom is merely a race for second place as ScarletKnight41 thunders ahead of the field with 143 posts.

The rest of the newly-formed century club fights it out for Koosmandom.

Edgy DC 103
Sea Wolf 102
Yancy Street Gang 100

It would be fun (but counterproductive) if the first poster to Seaverdom got to retain exclusive rights to the designation, and the next one down the line got exclusive rights to the second-best Met and so on. Somewhere down the line, our 500th-most prolific poster would forever become Siebert after his or her tenth post.
