How many tee shirts should a grown man own?

We've been spring cleaning. I have tee shirts that I haven't worn in years
but I refuse to part with them. Funky tee shirts, rock tee shirts, sports tee
shirts, beer tee shirts, plain color tee shirts, city and place tee shirts, event
tee shirts. I must have about 75-80 of the suckahs.

I have a bin in the basement with a bunch of my old race shirts. I'm never going to wear them again, but I can't make myself part with them. I earned those shirts, dammit!

i've got about that many, and the collection keeps growing, also thanks to races.

i make it a point to wear them when i play basketball or go to the gym. if i hadn't discovered that magic of technical fibers, i'd still be wearing them when i run, and getting much more use out of them. its very difficult to rotate through them, but i try.

I threw away dozens when it came to move last year, but still have a lot.

Every once in a while I remember a t-shirt I used to have and can't ever find it. I think what happens is you get 3 or 4 tshirts on the top of the drawer, and they're in regular rotation, get washed, go back on the top of the pile, and they're there next time.

For a project you should take your dresser drawer out, flip it onto the bed, then place everything back in upside down.

I have some t-shirts that are over 20 years old.
Fortunately I've remained more or less the same size in that time.
Eventually I cut the sleeves off and use them as biking shirts until they basically fall apart from too much sweat and age. Then you take them off, use the remaining rag to clean the bike and chuck 'em out.
That method puts the really bad ones out of circulation and keeps the overall number down to a manageable level.

Now about all those old softball jerseys ...

i used to have this problem. then i made it a point to rotate tehm - freshly washed t-shirts go to the bottom of the pile in the closet. the top of that pile goes into the bottom of the stack in my dresser drawer, the top of which beomes the bottom of the other stack in same dresser drawer, the top of which is the next t-shirt to be worn in random t-shirt duty.

mind you, i also maintain a separate stack of so called good t-shirts, meaning those which i can wear out in public, or even on casual fridays, without fear of sparking talk of divorce. undershirts, too, are in a separate stack.

i think that clothing rotation is my only sign of OCD. surely not my typing.

how many pairs of underwear (boxers) are too many?

I have a special collection of t-shirts that I seldom, if ever, wear. The plan is to have them someday made into a giant comforter by either my aunt or my sister-in-law. In my case, they are all Astros themed and were handed out at games or whatever. But you could do the same sort of thing with other themed shirts.
