Posting Images

I can't figure out how to post images here - how do you do it?

You can do it using HTML code as long as you have it turned on. Or you can do it the easy way, by using the links just above the text box. To post an image, simply hit the Img button, then paste in the link to the image you desire to post. Then you hit the Img button once more.

Thanks - I'll give that a try. On Edit - I also had to click Disable BBCode in this post to make it show up.

Now I seem to be having trouble posting images. It took three tries. Strange. I have to check the box to disable HTML in this post.

Is it possible to resize images in your post so they appear smaller? I was going to post an updated Peanut photo, but it's enormous.

When posting with htiml, you can specify the height and width in the code. Say you are posting a picture of Peanut like this: (img src=http://www.seawolfdomain.com/pictureofpeanut.jpg) You can add tags for the size (img src=http://www.seawolfdomain.com/pictureofpeanut.jpg width=600 height=400) Make sure, of course you open and close the code with < and > rather than ( and ). To find out the actiual width and height, open the picture where it is housed and right-click on it. Select "Properties" off of the menu that appears, and you'll see the height and width under "Dimensions." Divide them both by the same number. Even better would be to resize the photo on whatever desktop application you use and upload the smaller version as well.

Or you could just alter the height, and the width will alter itself proportionately.

Why can't I post from my computer's hard drive? WHY MUST MY PICTURE COME FROM SOMEWHERE ON THE NET! Hey this folder is "Bitch to the Admins" so I guess screaming is encouraged =;)>

[url=http://imageshack.us/]Image Shack[/url] will host any image from your computer and give you a URL for it, so you can then post it here. It's free, and it's a nice service.

You're welcome. My son (the one whose Bar Mitzvah is coming up) told me about Image Shack over the summer. I enjoy being able to post pictures without having to first go to Kase and ask him to host them for me.

Hmmmm....the link doesn't seem to be working when I paste it into my profile though. I typed in the URL, asked for the "Avatar" size from the drop-down, and was taken to a page with a bunch of options. Which one of those should I pop into my Profile page?

Go through the original process of getting a URL for the image, but when you do it, select the option to resize the image. Then you'll have a URL for Avatar size. On Edit - let's see how this resize works?

I swear I'm not computer-illiterate, but this has me stumped. I'm now on the page [url]http://www.imageshack.us/transload.php[/url] after giving the image and size, but the address in the box marked "Direct Link to Image" just gives me the full size one. I feel like a dunce.

I don't have an answer for you Elster. I did that above with the oft-cited MK photo, and he shrunk just fine. BTW, was that you in that picture?

I think I figured it out. Not sure what I did differently this time. Thanks again for helping a poor bumbling fool. I feel bad now for every time I teased someone who calls themselves computer illiterate. It's a helpless feeling. When it works that's a great site. Nice find.

Well, it's a smashing photo. I'm glad that it ultimately worked out for you :) It worked out for us too - MK decided to use his shrunken image as his avatar. Because, you know, the people around here haven't seen enough of that photo ;)

Image Shack's transload is a nice feature. Websites don't really appreciate when you hotlink their pictures.
