Good thing the universal DH was implemented to boost offense, eh?

Re: Immaculate Grid

Perhaps the oddness of someone Oquendo's size (5' 10"/160) playing 1B helped it lodge in peeps' minds.
Turns out he played 'only' 23 games there, starting three including two CGs. I would have guessed more.

Yeah, kind of an odd call.
23 pitches last night for Iglesias and now 25 more today, both to protect multi-run leads.

Re: I Believe There's A Game Today - IGT 05/11 ATL @ NYM

A walk and three soft grounders = bases loaded and one out.
And then the one ball they hit hard ends the inning with no damage.

Re: TWiB Notes - May 6 thru 12

Paul Skenes in his ML debut, gave up his first run on a HR to Nico Hoerner with one out in the 4th. He then got pulled after giving up hits to the first two batters in the 5th and eventually got charged with those runs as well. So 3 ER on 6 hits, 2 BBs, 7 Ks and a rather hefty 84 pitches. Pirates ha...

Re: Memories of Zack Short

Speaking of traitorous Braves, that team seems to be stacking their broadcast crew with former short-term Mets. I don't think there's any intent on their part since all have longer-term Atlanta connections, but their rotating lineup now includes the recently retired Collin McHugh who joins the likes...

They have five hits and we've got nothing resembling a hit.
That might be at least partially responsible for the 0-3 hole.

Re: Immaculate Grid

I'm surprised that 4% chose José Oquendo as their shortstop/firstbaseman. Good call by you and FMan on McEwing, I wouldn't have thought of him. I was surprised too by Oquendo being as 'high' as 4% but Whitey used him there for a while so he played a lot more 1B than did Super Joe. I knew Mantle pla...

Re: Immaculate Grid

The fun part about these is trying to think up guys in positions they weren't know for playing such as Mantle at 1B (in the final year of his career) or Mays at SS (which he did for part of a 23 inning game vs the Mets) Those two wound up adding up to less than 1% Rarity = 9 MVP/SS -- Willie Mays 0....

So other than that 10-pitch sequence in the 3rd inning Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the game?
