Re: Yay Pete, He's an All-Star

I wasn't directing anything towards you...apologies if by quoting the mention of Nimmo not making the all stars made it appear that way... I also don't understand why when I have an opinion, you call it many false characterizations to sort thru here (yeah, I know I will probably get chastised for no...

Re: Yay Pete, He's an All-Star

he has 85 strikeouts at the half way point of the season...35 of those came in June...so 85 times 2 is 170...and if you go by "trends" instead of "pace", and his June "trend" continues, he could easily eclipse 170... However, after looking at the NL roster, it does seem...

Re: Yay Pete, He's an All-Star

Is that a rhetorical question? It was more a comment of why he's not an all star...the Mets fans may love his taking a ton of pitches, but I don't think that a guy that strikes out a ton is as valuable as we might be led to believe vs other OFers that put up better numbers...OF is a very crowded po...

how many non-power hitting outfielders are on a pace for 170 strikeouts in a season?

well someone's gotta represent...although a first base man hitting .221 feels a little like a Dave Kingman representation this year...

A little insight into the pitchers received... doesn't sound overly encouraging when both guys average fastball is around 92 mph...the one guy sounds like a control pitcher with a good change up.

I also would not be surprised to see Luke Ritter...not much for batting average but good power numbers and like Canha and McNeil can play multiple positions

Re: Memories of Eduardo Escobar

Well, Escobar's not the third baseman Cohen probably wants if he wants to build a team like the Dodgers. So goodbye, Escobar. Now all Cohen has to do is to find a third baseman that plays like Mike Schmidt. Well Schmidt didn't exactly play like Schmidt at first either...I would like to think that B...

Re: Memories of Eduardo Escobar

I actually like Escobar as a utility player more than Luis G... only problem was that Buck continued to give him too many starts when he should have been a bench player.

I wonder if there is any market for the FA catcher that we signed in the off-season. He doesn't appear to even be at Nido's level

Prospects might be a bit of an overstatement...the injured guy is famous for hitting 6 batters in one game without being elected... maybe he got acquired to be a retaliation accidental head hunter

Re: Is it too late to adopt Vientos?

I see Vientos and hopefully remember that Mike Schmidt hit around .200 in his first 500 MLB AB. Later And he mostly played every day during those 500+ at bats... September callup in '72 and then was called mid April in '73 And while Schmidt was a gold glove Third baseman in his career, he made plen...

Is it too late to adopt Vientos?

He should have a little more respect from the team in terms of being a prospect...guy is a Dave Kingman like power threat, and similarly to Kingman can play 1B/3B/LF just not up to metrics that the team uses...then again, I don't think that McNeil did either until they were forced to give McNeil a s...

It's pretty clear David Stearns will be in charge of the cleanup this offseason. Eppler's just marking time, which is one of the reasons they may not do anything splashy at the deadline. Buck, I'm disappointed. He always seemed like to most prepared guy in the room but he's made some inexplicable m...

What are you tearing down? Verlander, Scherzer, and Senga aren’t going anywhere. Neither are Nimmo, Lindor, or Alonso. I’m in favor of getting rid of Carrasco and Megill but who do you use in their stead? You could probably trade Baty or Alvarez but do you really want to do that? I think a "te...

As for BABIP, I've never been a fan of counting on that statistic to normalize. people have always told me "everyone has a BABIP of .300...if it's not, they are either getting unlucky or lucky"... IMO, that's hogwash...guys that hit hard line drives with being able to hit the ball the oth...
