Former Mets, Current Situations 2024
Re: Former Mets, Current Situations 2024
Not only escaped a minor-league deal with the Reds to sign with the Sox, and not only got added to the roster, he was in the lineup tonight and went 1-for-4 with an RBI single to put Boston up 5-2 in the fifth.

Patrick Mazeika and Jack Reinheimer are playing for Gastonia in the Atlantic League, managed by Mauro “Goose” Gozzo.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

The Angels are reportedly picking up Luis Guillorme from the Braves.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

He should finally get some serious PT there. The Angels have, like, five injured infielders, along with Trout out of the lineup.

I suspect the Braves acquired Guillorme only to punish him for being so awesome at baseball

Joins Met greats who've gone on to become Angels like Kirk Niuwenhuis and Hansel Robles

There was this young pitcher we gave up in the Leroy Stanton deal for a washed up infielder.Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 11:58 am Joins Met greats who've gone on to become Angels like Kirk Niuwenhuis and Hansel Robles

Yeah, there's definitely that guy!
I also thought of Craig Swan, who had a brief cup of coffee with the Angels after the Mets gave up on him.
EDIT: Swan had two games with the Angels in 1984, one start and one relief appearance. He pitched a total of five innings and was 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA.
Despite his brief stint with the Angels, he did manage to get a Topps baseball card:

Swan was back in camp with the Angels in ’85 and was a late cut.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

Re: Former Mets, Current Situations 2024
I went to see the Palm Beach Cardinals and Jupiter Hammerheads last night. Our old friend Bernard Gilkey is the defensive coach for the Cardinals. Something cool about seeing an established veteran like Gilkey coaching in the low-A minors. He made $26 million over the course of his career, so I'm assuming its a labor of love.
Re: Former Mets, Current Situations 2024
I learned over the weekend that Bernard Gilkey’s 1996 Met teammate Charlie Greene has been coaching Milwaukee Brewer catchers for a while.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.
