According to MLB network this morning, he is "expected to make his decision soon" but hasn't signed yet.

Does anybody still think Turner's still got something positive left to offer?

Long about now, I'd have more faith in Daniel Murphy, I think.

He his .276 with 23 HRs and 96 RBIs for Boston last year, and an OPS of .800. Those numbers would be in the top 4 across the board had they been applied to the 2023 Mets. So, yeah, I think he can still hit.

I'm surprised that Pham and, to a lesser extent Rosario, are still out there.

I'd love to see Syndergaard get a chance to be successful again. He's never going to be what it was. But if he can figure out how to be effective without the same velocity, it would be wonderful. Will probably have to do that at Triple-A, though.

Surprised, at this point, that no one has gotten him to buy into the idea of being a bad ass closer who comes in and just brings heat.

It's not like his recent track record is all that enticing

- his last good season is now six years in the rear view [2018, 25 starts, 3.03 ERA] and even that wasn't a complete one
- 2019 was so-so at best [4.28 ERA] and was his last full season
- missed all of 2020 and 2021 (aside from two token innings at the end of the year)

Since leaving the Mets his '22-'23 seasons have seen him throw for four different clubs and just 43 games total (42 starts)
with an ERA just a hair under 5.00, more than a hit/inning (9.8/9), and barely 6 Ks/9 (151 in 223 IP).
Not sure anyone believe he actually can be a bad-ass bringer of heat.

Amed Rosario goes to the Rays for $1.5M. A career .806 OPS against lefties, could have spelled McNeil, Baty, and Nimmo or DHed. And he'd have kept us from being royally screwed if something happens to Lindor. I'd have at least doubled that bid.

If something happens to Lindor, I think we'll see Jett Williams.

I don't want to rush Jett. I'd like to see him get half a year in AA and half in AAA, assuming he's handling things the way I think he will. But every plan gets written down in pencil.
