Is it too late to adopt Vientos?
He should have a little more respect from the team in terms of being a prospect...guy is a Dave Kingman like power threat, and similarly to Kingman can play 1B/3B/LF just not up to metrics that the team uses...then again, I don't think that McNeil did either until they were forced to give McNeil a shot at the MLB level

Not saying he won't be a guy someday but he's looked pretty bad as a big leaguer.

I see Vientos and hopefully remember that Mike Schmidt hit around .200 in his first 500 MLB AB.

And he mostly played every day during those 500+ at bats... September callup in '72 and then was called mid April in '73
And while Schmidt was a gold glove Third baseman in his career, he made plenty of errors in his first several seasons....he also played all 4 infield positions in his first 2 seasons
