I was thinking the same. If this outcome isn't necessary one way or another for the playoff picture, the Mets would get a win, at least under the olden-times rules.

I went to bed when the bullpen made a poo of the game.

Schrodinger's ballgame! Is the game alive or dead?

But Norman Rockwell has it covered.

I got home nearly eighteen hours ago, and it’s still a crazy night to have been at the ballpark (albeit in hermetically sealed environs), considering that the game isn’t over.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

This statement grows more accurate the more I consider it, as we can't state with factual certainty that one team or the other is winning. The reality of the lead has degraded into a degree of likelihood that one team or the other is ahead.

So what's the verdict on this game? We know it's not going to be completed, but who gets the win?

Baseball Reference's stats have the Mets at 162 games, but with only 161 decisions. The standings on MLB.com have the Mets and Marlins also having played 161 games.

Nobody won this game? But it's not a tie? Is this how it's going to remain?

MLB quietly shifted it into the win column for the Mets in its At Bat app standings in the last couple of hours, though on a different part of the app, it’s still a suspended game and the box score doesn’t reflect any decision.

The lack of resolution is driving me At Batty.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

This is holding up the season-ending wrap-up for the UMDB, and for Schaefer!

That additional Mets win/Marlins loss has been deleted from the At Bat standings.

Has anyone heard anything more on the 'outcome?'

BBRdotcom still has it as suspended and resume on October 2nd.

Is the 2024 schedule out yet? Because if it is, you could go ahead and start next year's Opening Day IGT before anyone else does.

I don't recall ever starting or pre-starting an Opening Day thread ever
here so not sure what you mean. Couldn't be you're making some kind
light-hearted-bullying poke at me because you monitor my lineup posting
and IGT starting thread frequency?

Nah, couldn't be. You're too much of a CPF mensch for that.

I sent this to Baseball Reference. I suppose I should try writing to the Elias Sports Bureau?
Do you know what is the final resolution of the Mets/Marlins game of September 28, 2023? The Mets led 1-0 after 8 innings. The Marlins scored two in the top of the 9th, but then the game was halted by rain. According to the rules, as I understand them, the two runs that Miami scored get canceled because the Mets never had a chance to bat in that inning. Since the game was never resumed, it would be a Mets win. But it has remained in a "suspended state", with the standings showing both teams having played 161 games. Neither team got a win or a loss. Could it be a 2-1 tie, as illogical as that sounds? It seems that MLB hasn't made any kind of decision regarding this game. Have you heard anything? Thank you!

Maybe they'll resume play in the spring.

I've now sent the same message to the Elias Sports Bureau.

The Mets official site now has it as a 1-0 final in eight innings.

MLB presents a box score that no longer contains the top of the 9th nor ambiguity, and the standings there and on ESPN have our record at 75-87. Mets apparently won, 1-0, after a delay of approximately 132 hours.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

Great win! 75 sounds better than 74.

BB-Ref updates on a daily basis. I would expect to see the result posted there tomorrow and then feel total twelve under .500 finality from this season.

So now that 75 is the official number, how did the CPF predictions go?
