IGT 09/28 — Fish in Flushing

Tonight is Buck Showalter Windbreaker night. I think that means the first 15,000 fans will all receive a Buck Showalter-inspired Mets-branded windbreaker. It also might possibly mean the first 15,000 all get to personally experience Buck Showalter breaking wind. That's a possibility too.

The winners of the Mets minor-league awards, which need a new, non-Sterling-affiliated name, will be in the house and invited to collectively throw out a bunch of first pitches.

Do you like lefties on the mound? How about lefties on the mound countered with righthanded bats?

Good, right? Well, tonight's your lucky night because you're going to be seeing a lot of that.

If you're a Daniel Vogelbach fan, well, not so much. I think we may have seen the big fella's last start as a Met.

Also, Jake Burger was kicked out of last night's game, but here he is right back in the lineup tonight! What's with the revolving-door justice?!

McNutty shelved to the IL, torn little something in his elbowish area or
something. Amputation news on X (formally known as Twitter) has not
been posted yet.

Well, that could really open up the Juan Soto possibilities.

If G, K, & R Really want to imitate their predecessors they'd crack open those bottles. L, R & B indulged on more than one occasion.

Peterson ending his season in style with seven shutout innings and his career high in pitches.

Too bad there's not a chance in hell he'll see the eighth. But assuming Luzardo is coming back out, it's good to see two pitchers reaching the seventh.

First run scored!!!

I didn't think they'd send Baty, but Berti clearly doesn't have much of a wing and Cora knew it.

I like the LHP vs Chisholm and it's kind if cool that it's Anthony Kay with the game on the line.
Not ideal maye, but kinda cool.

If this game ends like this it'll be typical Marlins 2023: outscored 14-8 in the series while winning two of three.

Coming into tonight MIA are six games over .500 despite being at a negative 55 RS/RA

Doesn't look/sound like this one will resume tonight.
And if it does it'll probably be without me.

Dumb stoppage with two outs. It's gonna rain for like a day and
a half. Pass the Tullamore D.E.W.

It's a good thing everybody's got their Buck Showalter windbreakers.

I think they said if this game is not resumed and it matters
to the Marlins after Sunday they'll have to finish it on Monday.

See dumb stoppage comment above. It's one freaking out.

Keith doesn't actually drive back out to Sag Harbor after nights like tonight, right? I'm guessing he's got a suite near the ballpark that the Mets cover.

So how does this work? If the game doesn't resume, I think the Marlins' ninth inning gets wiped out (because the Mets didn't have a ninth inning), and the Mets win 1-0. That's the way it used to work, anyway. I don't know if that rule is still in effect.
