A rare spring training DGANG — with both contests on the road — goes down today as the Mets blast off for the Jupiter locale of Roger Dean Stadium (aka Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium). Sean Manaea makes his first appearance following the unconditional release of his glory and his splendor.

Steven Matz, part of a rare breed of active dudes who have appeared in a World Series for the Mets, betrays his heritage by taking the mound for the opposition.

Speaking of lost heritage, though, let us look who is DH-ing for the Cards!

And through three innings, the torrid Mets are up, 4-0 on the Matzes, wwith a homer by Francisco Lindor and doubles by Mark Vientos and Ji-Man Choi.

Shorn Manaea has walked three and struck out three, while giving up two hits, but it's been a step forward there, also.

Manaea gets the side in the fourth, probably finishing his shutout day with 61 pitches.

Sean Reid-Foley gets them down in order, throwing nine pitches, all strikes, striking out the first guy and inducing two grounders.

Nate Lavender pitched a scoreless inning, striking out the side.
And for his efforts, he was rewarded by being sent to minor league camp for reassignment.
I think he'll be back - soon.

Nice show by Lavender.

Chad Smith is on, and I remain disappointed that his tiny "SMITH" lettering on his uniform back doesn't include a "C." to differentiate him from Drew Smith.

It's been decades, seemingly, since any team has cared about this, but I strangely continue to.

Ji-Man Choi gets pinch-run for after a 3-for-3 day.

Second and third with no out and the Mets are in a position to put this one out of reach.

Simon Juan, a special guest up from rookie ball (where he hit a drag-ass .220/.293/.303//.596 last season) delivers with a two-run single!

Remember the name Sem Robbertse, Dutch-born prospect for the Cardinals. He's been fooling nobody up here against the Mets, and the Mets are throwing batters against him from the middle and low minors.

If De Los Santos gets on, I want to see him run.

I wish we could bottle what Manaea did in the mound today

I really don't know what my expectations of him are

We got two hits from both Baty and Vientos, yeah!

Choi has been good. I would imagine he could get called up from Syracuse if the DH spot goes south

Lindor is having a nice spring. I thought he was pretty locked in while he was miked up on MLB

Pete Alonso is on a mission

Looking forward to seeing Nate Lavender at Citi this season

I feel a sense of organization that I am attributing the the Stearns guy
