Twenty-One Prediction Fun: Jacob deGrom

Post by Edgy MD » Tue Mar 16, 2021 9:39 pm

I've given up one run through nine innings this spring, I'm rocking a 1.00 ERA, I've struck out more people than Eddie Feigner on cocaine. And I've pretty much reduced the conversation about who the best pitcher on the planet is down to two people, and Trevor Bauer isn't one of them.

The only problem is that, after an impossibly long stretch of my team not hitting on the days I pitch, I tend to try and be too perfect. That's a tough way to pitch. Pitching under duress like that is stressful. It can lead to high-risk/high-reward decisions and to injuries. Somehow I've dodged that sort of self-sabotage, because I have the mental toughness and focus of a yogi, or perhaps even a robot.

I have the mental toughness of a yogot. But I'm not getting any younger and I'd like to win a few games before this gorgeous run is over. And you might have an idea how that is going to play out.

He'll be Good-enesque.
18-6, 2.18 ERA, 1.06 WHIP. 11.2/9 K/IP

He'd probably need an 0.13 ERA to go 33-0.

22-5, 1.50 ERA in 225 IP, third Cy in 4 years.

Let's not get crazy, I can't see his ERA going over 1.00... 0.93.

Cy Young, NLCS MVP.

Finally gets some run support and goes 20-6, 2.10 and a 3rd Cy Young.
