Twenty-Three Skiddoo: Kodai Senga

Post by Edgy MD » Thu Mar 09, 2023 2:27 pm

If it seems like a while since the Mets have brought over a guy directly from NPB, it hasn't been. Because just this offseason, they brought in me. And that's where I'm from.

I'm Kodai Senga and I'm a 30-year-old career-long Softbank Hawk with 104 wins, a 2.44 career ERA, two Diamond Gloves, and a pitch nobody over here has ever heard of. I've got a big wide smile, a big wide contract, a funky kick in my delivery, and five career hits.

But exchange rates are volatile. What does that all add up to in the US? I ask you to get out your calculators, slide rules, and abaci and figure it all out for me. Because the 2.5 WAR that ZiPS predicts for me could mean anything. Who knows?

You do.

I think this guy has a wider range of possible outcomes than any other 2023 Met.

Looking forward to seeing his Ghost ball , seriously, whatever that is. I remember the NYT having a very indepth article on the mysterious gyroball Dice-K was bringing over way back when.
