Have at it.

I think he's clearly both of those things. He's unfortunately one of the most genuinely talented political animals in our history, and there's a non-zero chance he could be elected as a convicted felon.

Mebbe to you. I was hoping his legal peril could be documented apart from basically documenting his foul-ness, ignorance, and smallness on the campaign trail

All of those are great reasons to oppose him as a candidate, but most of those aren't really crimes, and aren't what he should be prosecuted for. I understood this thread to be about his encounters with justice and distinct from politics threads.

Your mileage may vary, but it's really easy for his supporters to say that he's being persecuted because he is opposed politically, so I like to keep my opposition from the guy as a candidate distinct from my understanding of the guy as a criminal.

Putting this thread back on track, Trump is set to attend a hearing on his claims of presidential immunity to dismiss his January 6 election interference case in Washington, DC.
The hearing is set to take place on Tuesday morning at the DC Court of Appeals.

This should be interesting:
NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Donald Trump aims to deliver his own closing argument Thursday in his New York civil business fraud trial in addition to his legal team’s summations, according to two people familiar with the highly unusual plan.
I guess he feels safe because he can't be cross examined in a closing argument.

He's already lost, so he'll be using the closing argument as a campaign speech.

Evil genius.

Judge Ergeron withdraws permission for the former president to make his own closing argument, after he could not compel the attorneys to compel their client to stay within the framework of the case.

The judge also denied a bid to postpone the proceedings because of the recent death of President Trump’s mother-in-law.

Of course, Representative Stefanik telling anybody what's despicable is pretty absurd, but she's just one of several suck-ups auditioning to be his vice presidential candidate.

And, of course, the president didn't have to be present for the closing arguments, so this is clearly irrelevant — groundless, as they say in legal circles. He did end up filibustering the court for six minutes today, anyway, because the judge asked him a yes/no question, and that's the way that works.

The first lady's late mother was less than a year older than President Trump.

Well, he didn't give a rat's patoot about his mother-in-law. He's not big on honoring relatives. Hell, he buried his first wife on his golf course, for god's sake.

He's bragging again about his score on the cognitive test.
The more he mentions it, the dumber it sounds, like Fredo saying "I'm smart".

Except for his personal doctor, who proudly announced the results.
He's as disgraceful as the doctor who found the bone spurs that allowed mushroom man to evade the draft.

Award in the E. Jean Carroll defamation trial - $83 million.
I guess when he bragged how much money he has, the jury believed him.

I'd guess Rudy knows the difference between rape and sexual assault, since he has been accused of both crimes.

As for the Trump defamation case, even if the settlement is held up on appeal, Trump has put more than $5.5 million in an escrow account to potentially cover the cost of the first verdict while the appeals play out.
And he would have to come up with that amount - in cash - immediately.
