As if we hadn't suspected it, he may also be guilty of tax fraud.
https://www.businessinsider.com/donald- ... ort-2024-1
But buried in the sixth footnote of the 12-page letter is what the Daily Beast indicated is a clue that Trump may have evaded taxes on $48 million in income, with Jones writing that the massive sum — which Trump has claimed for years that he owes as a debt to one of his companies — never existed.
The discrepancies, if true, would indicate that the disclosures Trump has filed with the federal government were intentionally submitted with inaccuracies related to the debt equating to tens of millions of dollars. "It would appear, assuming Judge Jones' letter is accurate, that this amounts to tax evasion," Martin Lobel, a tax lawyer, told The Daily Beast.
He added: "This explains why the Republicans have been so intent on cutting the IRS's budget, because they don't want it to be able to audit transactions like this."

He has likened himself to Al Capone. That's what brought Capone down.

Yeah but they managed to jail Capone. Can they ever get Trump behind bars?

If the will and the leadership is there, absolutely.

I find I'm so discouraged by all of this. This is a bad guy. A real shit person. But he's managed to stay out of jail and is rising in the polls.

Our country is so fucked up I have no idea what to say.

Yep pretty much this.

I know the J6 committee did good work and all but I'll never forgive the powers that be for taking nearly 3 years to indict him based primarily on evidence that was visually there for the world to see the day it happened. This should have all been done years ago, well before there was any talk of the 2024 election cycle.

I keep thinking about what happened when Saddam Hussein was caught in Iraq. Captured, tried and executed all in a year's time. That's a timeline I can get behind.

I thought the Judge in the NY State fraud case said he was going to announce the amount of the penalty by the end of January.
Was it announced?

NEW YORK (Reuters) -A ruling in the New York state attorney general's $370 million civil fraud case against former U.S. president Donald Trump will not come until early to-mid February, a court spokesperson said Thursday.

Trump has until Monday to appeal to the Supreme Court to take up the matter and to stay this decision, otherwise the trial prep can resume.

Two cases scheduled for Thursday provide a split screen opportunity for the networks.
Dueling hearings in former President Trump’s criminal cases Thursday are set to create a blockbuster, split-screen moment in his quest to fight a cascade of legal battles.

In New York, a judge will weigh Trump’s bid to toss his hush money case, the indictment that made the former real estate mogul the first former or current president in history to ever be criminally charged.
Meanwhile, in Georgia, lawyers for Trump and some of his co-defendants will attempt to seek the disqualification of the top prosecutors overseeing their election interference case after the duo’s alleged romantic relationship was exposed in court filings.
The simultaneous hearings in two of his four indictments mark the latest display of Trump’s legal woes colliding.

I wonder if FOX will be one of those networks.

Trump Ordered to Pay $355 Million and Barred From New York Business
The Thriving New York Times wrote:A New York judge on Friday handed Donald J. Trump a crushing defeat in his civil fraud case, finding the former president liable for conspiring to manipulate his net worth and ordering him to pay a penalty of $355 million that could wipe out his entire stockpile of cash.

The decision by Justice Arthur F. Engoron caps a chaotic, yearslong case in which New York’s attorney general put Mr. Trump’s fantastical claims of wealth on trial. With no jury, the power was in Justice Engoron’s hands alone, and he came down hard: The judge delivered a sweeping array of punishments that threatens the former president’s business empire as he simultaneously contends with four criminal prosecutions and seeks to regain the White House.

Not only did Justice Engoron impose a three-year ban preventing Mr. Trump from serving in top roles at any New York company, including his own, but the judge also applied that punishment to the former president’s adult sons for two years and ordered that they pay more than $4 million each. One of the sons, Eric Trump, is the Trump Organization’s de facto chief executive, and the ruling throws into doubt whether any member of the family can run the business in the near term.

In real terms, is there a process by which these awards are actually extracted from lawsuit's loser?

He's just gonna' soak the deplorables for the cash one more time.
Or sell some more classified info to Putin.

As for payment schedule, I think the court provides a "pay by" date after which he is either in contempt of court or his assets are subject to seizure. Maybe if they seize Mar-a Lago they can find some more classified documents.
If he appeals (as I think he will) he still has to put up payment which is held in escrow until the appeal(s) are resolved.

The Supreme Court unnecessarily took the 'immunity' case, thereby putting all the federal prosecutions on hold. Chances are slim the trials will start before the election, so this is a win for Trump. Water has cooled considerably.

Hoping the NY judge tells him to stuff it, and Tish James seizes 40 Wall Street on day 31.
Even duct tape can't fix stupid. But it can sure muffle the sound.
