Be on a team that has someone better than him on the roster as an option?

From The Athletic:
Joe Namath: ‘I’ve seen enough of Zach Wilson,’ says Jets ‘made the wrong choice when they drafted him’
By The Athletic Staff

New York Jets legend Joe Namath ripped the franchise’s starting quarterback Zach Wilson on Monday while speaking on ESPN’s “The Michael Kay Show.”

“I don’t believe in him, I don’t believe he has a future as a good player, and I think they made the wrong choice when they drafted him, I feel that way,” Namath said.

Namath, who won two MVP awards and led New York to its only Super Bowl title in team history in 1968, has vocalized his frustrations with the team and Wilson on social media.

In Monday’s show appearance, he continued that criticism and picked apart both Wilson’s play and the team’s attitude.

“How can a coach say the locker room is together?” Namath said. “How many teams have we been on? Are you telling me there aren’t some cats on the defensive side saying ‘Woah, man, what’s wrong with you?’ There’s not all harmony in the locker room, and if there is then they need to get rid of the people.”

When asked what he suggests the team should do with Wilson, Namath said sending him to another team would be best.

“Send him to Kansas City to backup someone like Mahomes, maybe he’d learn something. I wouldn’t keep him. I’ve seen enough of Zach Wilson. I’ve seen enough. He has quick feet, he can throw a little bit, but I don’t believe what’s going on up there,” Namath said pointing towards his head.

The best part of all of that is Joe using hipster lingo like "cats." Like he's single-handedly bringing The Rat Pack aesthetic back.

The hot take industry is absurd enough, but everybody's gotta go takes are always less than useless.

He should stick to trying to mouth hump ESPN announcers on TV - Joe's last opportunity to provide lasting entertainment value.

This just in from SETI (the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence institute):
A transmission was received from a galaxy ten million light years away.
They finally were able to translate it.
It said, "Wilson stinks".

I'm done with Wilson too. But I don't really care what Joe Namath thinks.

Being a Jets fan sucks. When Sanchez left did you think the next guy would actually make you MISS him? Same with Darnold. It's amazing how they continue to go from bad to worse.

Now that a gazillion teenage girls will be at the game because Taylor Swift will be there, the atmosphere will be different from anything we've seen since the idolized cheers for Broadway Joe.
Maybe the focus will be off the rout that the game itself will be.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing that the game won't be packed with teenaged girls, what with the game sold out months in advance and it being a school night and all. Better chance of riding the Swiftwave watching at home on TV.

There is, however, a lot of writing out there suggesting that the Swift phenomenon could be one of the few cultural movements that could singlehandedly swing the election away from former-President Trump, especially with a high-profile NFL partner along for the ride.

Lol.

I'm not watching tonight. Normally for these games I try to make
it until halftime and then DVR the rest. It's gonna be at least like
27-3 by halftime so what's the point.

And I'd feel a lot better about the game if Weeb Ewbank were the coach.

I made it to halftime and went to bed. Wilson looked better, and at times even good, but I just ran out of gas and didn't have much confidence that they'd score enough to win.

Wilson looked like the guy they drafted for the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Fumbled it away I'm the 4th and Mahomes of course never gave the ball back.

It's progress - but last night (overall, when putting all 4 quarters together) was the bare minimum of what he needs to do to be a serviceable starter rather than a punchline.

Well 20-20, I was close. Holding the Chiefs to only tree points in the
second half is something I guess but 1-3 is still 1-3.

Hard to find moral victories in the NFL for a team hoping to contend when there are only 17 games. They looked good against the defending world champs though. That's something.

Denver is a MUST WIN next week.

Without Sauce and Reed the defense was still awesome today.

Wilson didn't embarrass himself, so they won.

Tremendous win today.
“They had the easiest schedule on paper in MLB & they squandered it … It was still there for them last weekend when they went to ATL, all they had to do was win 1 game but their starting pitching... let them down, as it did this weekend.” Gary Cohen

3-3 after losing Rodgers 4 plays in, is more than I expected out of this team. They still won't make the playoffs, but they won't be embarrassing.

Could the Giants & Jets wind up doing each other a favor this weekend by knocking off the other's division rival? ... Stay tuned. NYG up 6-0 in Buffalo in the 3rd Q tonight.
